    Hello guys,

I'm trying to make my own bed rack that will work with a tonneau cover. I really don't want to spend $500-$600 on something I will not be using every day. This rack is not designed to hold a RTT but a hi-lift jack, maxtrax, and water tanks.

I went through a couple of ideas and this was the first one:

This particular example will not work since I won't have a way to keep the brace low enough for the tonneau cover and have a nut that can be secured beneath it. The only way this design will work is to have longer brace at the top so it will stick out.. this I do not want.

This is the 2nd design I am going for:

I need to know if a metal brace labeled B on the drawing is something a hardware store will sell or do I have to go to a fab shop.

I found a kit to hold the brace to the deck rail system I have and here is the link.

OOOORRR am I just over my head trying save some money and have a fun project? lo

    Thanks guys

Vodoo makes the brackets for cheap. Why not but those and fab up your top you want?
