Is the 20% off group buy coupon still going on today? I tried to use it but it said the code was invalid.

They are a great option Alpharex housings and lens with a 3rd party LED reflector, still carry a 2 year warranty from Alpharex. You can find them on eBay for $100 less than protunings website. I wanted to love the Morimoto but they are just too much money for what they are and I personally don't like a DRL that bright, kind of annoying reminds me of a Dodge.

    Hi,

Are these lights Alpharex? The lens in some pictures has your name on it. Anyway I'm just wondering if they are yours what is the warranty?

Awesome, thanks for the info. Looks like an eBay purchase is coming...I agree on all points. Morimoto seems overpriced for similar quality (fit & finish issues too from recent responses). Realistically, a fair price for the Morimotos should be $400-500 max. The rest must be marketing and profit based on the other options. All things considered, OEM or a proper retrofit is prob the best route in the end for quality & performance.

I was trying that. What I did was solder wires onto the old OEM headlight. Then I drilled out the connector portion of the motor cover and slide it over the wires and put it back on the motor since it wont move without the gear. I slid the other end of the wires into the connector the normal way to make sure I was getting power and it was working. When I tried a combo of swapping them around I didn't get anything to work. After a couple of tries it got hot outside lol. There are only 3 wires on the connector, and there is a dozen or so on the back of the dial switch. I just pulled it out enough to glance at it.

I reached out to one of the wiring gurus to see if he has any inputs on the wiring for reversing the motors and also the dimming of the DRL in parking mode. I'll let you know what I find out. :fingerscrossed:

Since my lights are not installed, yet, I want to clarify something and double check my understanding. Are the lights pointing towards the sky when adjusting with the dial, or are the lights still pointing down, but the numbers on the dial are reversed?

If you have a weight in the back of the truck, the front will point up. The level adjuster is supposed to rotate the lights down to correct for that. Increasing the number on the dial should be more downward rotation.

O means that the lights are aimed down. When you turn the dial towards 5, the aim should go lower. The motors on the XB's are mounted 180 degrees different than OEM, so it causes the lights to go up when you turn the dial towards 5 instead of down.

I messaged Ihacker to see if he can provide any assistance with the motors and the DRL in parking light mode. He made the harness for the sequoia conversion so maybe it will be a starting point.

I get that. My question was if the functionality is the same with simply the numbers being reversed on the adjuster. If that was the case, as long as the lights are rotating down, I wouldn't care if the lowest position was at 1 or 5.

 This seems like is should be a simple fix, either with polarity reversal or possibly opposite worm gear...:notsure:

Yes they still work, just backwards. I think the only concern would be limited adjustment if you tow heavy loads.

I wonder if everyone has the issue with leveling motors running backwards, or is it only some of us???

I'm also wondering if there is a way to max out the headlights at the highest position with the motors, then aim them properly with adjustment screws, and from there, once they are maxed out at the highest position, they can only go down. Not sure if that's possible, just brainstorming.

I think we all have them. motor still works, just the opposite. I think most of us don't really look at the dial and adjust looking at the light in front of us. That's why I did not pay attention at the feature but you guys got me curious :)

Which screw is the low beam adjustment? Passenger side is lower than the drivers side.

Edit...the low beam adjustment is the one on the motor itself. My passenger side was way low.

So it looks like we are stuck wiring wise for the motors. Below is his reply.

    Hello sir,

I see you guys are having this weird thing in the second gen Morimoto headlights, unfortunately for the moment don’t have any information about this headlights but let me tell you that the only way to do it is modifying the motors, flipping wires don’t have Any effect on this issue.

Your best bet is keeping in contact with the manufacturer to see if they figure out and send you a tweaked motor module.

If I hear about a solution for this I’ll contact you

We are already on a second gen Morimoto headlights??? I wonder if we should all just call Morimoto, so they can get to work on fixing this. :smack:

can the motors be inverted on the morimotos ? can we flip them upside down ? they look the same as oem.
    the plot thickens :)

I dont even know how you remove them from the lights. As I posted the earlier pictures, you can see how they are opposite.

Does the sticker really mean no more than 3 turns? I had to turn quite a few times for adjustment.

My passenger side was the same way, ultimately I did rotate more then suggested to get back into alignment and I havent had an issue since. I fought and fought with myself and I totally did lol!

That's good to know bc I definitely went more than 3 turns. Do your motors run backwards too?

Mine being an early model 07 I do not have the leveling option from factory. My passenger side took like 6-7 turns to bring it down into range from 25' away
-- I just turned the screw very slowly while clinching the b-hole hoping nothing would happen lol

So i just went out and adjusted it. If you use the screwdriver from the top to turn the gear teeth, then you would have to turn the screwdriver quite a bit to exceed 3 turns. If you turn it from the nut on the back side, it seems like you exceed the 3 turns. Does that make sense at all? After the adjustment they both worked fine up and down with the cab adjustment. Holy @#$% the DRLs are bright by themselves. The color of the low beams matches my Rigid fog lights perfectly.
