2020 supercharger

Just went to a 2020 TRD sport from a 14. Had a magnuson supercharger on the 14, some slight issues tuning, but when I went to Toyota to get it returned, they happens to show me the TRD,(we have a very good relationship lol) and bought it. Part of the deal was them swapping my blower, only problem is, magnuson doesn’t even have a program for a 2020 yet, didn’t know that at the time. Has anyone supercharged a 2020 yet? It’s driving me

Is it the magnusson supercharger or the TRD supercharger (made by magnusson)? What does it say in the name plate of the supercharger?

 

It’s the magnuson one. I have a TRD one sitting on the side as well

 

if you have the trd one and it's both part numbers (i.e., main assembly AND fit kit) why not just install the trd? tuning should be on point for that and all parts under toyota catalog. agree, i couldn't imagine owning another tundra without one.

and finding both trd parts is a unicorn so you lucked out if so. i've been looking and considering going to a 2015 if i could find a trd package. ended up just deciding to refresh my 08 at 83k miles.

 

The TRD one is just the blower itself. I bought it, was gonna order the fit kit, the pulley was very very slightly bent, so I said fuck it and ordere the whole setup from magnuson. Will the magnuson fit kit work with the TRD? Since they made both? They said they could send a new pulley and the fit kit when I first started the project. The pulley lip is what is slightly bent/nicked not the shaft itself

TRD one is not CARB legal for model years after 2015. Not sure which state you live in...

i'm not sure brother if it's straight compatible. from the pics, comparing mine to the magnussen there are possibly some differences? maybe try to get on with their support and ask.

 

FWIW I have a 2020 with the magnuson kit. I’ve had it on there for about 1200 or so miles now. I started out with unichip harness and haven’t had any issues. With that being said I have the OV tune coming Monday as one of the test vehicles. So for curiosity and the claims made by harrop I unhooked my unichip harness in preparation for the tune coming. I’ve been running that way for about 400 miles now and have noticed no difference. Although I will say I have not went 100% throttle just to be safe. So for daily driving and the occasional heavy throttle it has been perfectly fine. Keep in mind I live on the gulf coast at sea level so that’s always a factor. I hope this helps.

 

I bought my 2020 mid December and rolled the supercharger into the deal only to find out later that Magnuson hasn't released the programming for the H-key so they can't install it under warranty.
You may be able to get it installed/tuned but I don't see who would warranty your truck/supercharger.
The dealer gave me two options moving forward; wait for Magnuson to release the programming and install or have the $8,000 I paid during the purchase of the truck applied to the principal of my loan. I've now waited 4 months, checking in regularly, with no firm date. The information that I'm getting from Magnuson is messy. One rep wouldn't give me ANY information and was rude. Back in Dec, one rep said it would be ready by the end of the first quarter of 2020. A month ago, one rep said they will be releasing the Tacoma supercharger first because that is what they displayed at SEMA then they will work on releasing the Tundra. More recently, another rep just flat out said there is no release date and all other information was worthless as well as forcefully asking who had given the info.

 

I'll be seeing my installer on Tuesday for an updated tune to be downloaded. I'll ask if he has heard anything about the 2020's. They do a lot of installs and he's got good contacts at Magnuson.

So what is the deal with the Magnuson tunes? I spoke with Harrop and on their stage 1 it just runs off the stock tune and is just fine on the 20's.. Not able to do this on the Magnuson? As far as I know nobody has come out with a 2020 tune yet with all the new features..

 

Last word I got from magnuson was
“We’re still waiting on bully tog and the other manufacturers, we have a 2020 in our own shop we can’t put one on yet, no timeline”
