Hello all. I installed the Blisten 5100 on my 15' SR5 and after a few days of driving I checked and it looks like the rubber bushing that is on the top of the coil-over is protruding downward on the outside on the passenger side. I'm not sure what could be causing this. Any insight? I attached driver side which I think looks right and passenger side.

Maybe it just got misaligned during the install. Should be able to loosen the bolts on the top mount and readjust.

Loosen the 4 bolts and see if I can slide it into place? Do I need to jack it up for that?

Yes deweight the vehicle take off wheel loosen top 4 bolts use a pry bar on lower control arm and see if you can press it down a little and get things back in line. Best to have 2 sets of hands....fairly simple process..

Pretty sure you'll have to loosen the center nut that holds top plate on coil over in order to be able to move that rubber. I don't think loosening the 4 mounting nuts will do you any good.

Your going to need to compress the spring to fix that.

saw the pictures earlier on the phone but looking at it on a larger screen now and you are correct. The rubber seats between the spring and upper mount so OP will have to basically take the strut apart and reseat everything.

Gonna have to decompress the spring to fix that one.

Damn I was hoping I wouldn't have to. What do you all think happened to cause this, so I don't do it again. I thought I installed both the same, which I did in place by removing the center nut and compressed it with a floor jack and then disconnected the LCA from the wheel spindle.

Did you over torque the nuts? The 4 on top holding shock to the tower? It doesn’t much torque

It looks like it just got moved out of position during the install not much more it could really be.

For my install I never had to touch the 4 bolts. Just the center one that held the strut in. But yeah I may have over tightened that one because I just could not fit a torque wrench in there. I just tightened until it got harder to turn the bolt and stopped.

My only guess is it moved out of place during installing it back together really

If you take it back apart, you'll see the factory indentions in the rubber that goes against the stop on the top plate for the spring. Just put it back together with the rubber clocked correctly.

How did you install the 5100s without removing the 4 nuts on the top? I'd like to see a video of that. You have to remove those to remove coilover. Maybe I'm missing something or misunderstood what you said.

Yeah the 4 nuts don't hold the coil. If you de
Compress the coil and loosen the center nut then slowly decompress it the strut will drop out, as long as you have the bottom disconnected. Then the coil comes out with it with no tension

So... After looking closer once I have it half way apart lol I notice it's in the right place! It looks different because the flat part/end of the coil is on the outside on the driver side and inside on the passenger side. So the driver looks the same just on the inside so you can see it. But I'm pretty sure this is how they are supposed to look. The inside on the passenger is nice and flat like the outside of the driver side.

Anyone with the 5100's installed care to take a look at their passenger side and see if the bushing is curling down a little?

Wow that was quick! Thank you so much. So I see yours does the same thing as mine just not as much. I'm going to leave it and watch it for the next couple hundred miles and see what happens.

I just looked at my paperwork. They've got about 42,000 miles on them.

You swap these out without taking the whole coil over out? Seems like that would be harder, but never tried it that way.

You cant just loosen the top mount on the STRUT and fix it, has to be compressed a little. Should not be sticking out like that.

No the coil does come out along with the strut. Then you put them together off the truck loosely then slide it back into place and thread the top nut back on and compress it again then tighten it all the way.

Yeah I took it completely apart but realized it was actually in the same spot as the factory position. So I put it back in and it did the same thing. Everything is tightened to spec. Not really sure why it's doing what it is. But the other side is as well, just on the inside since the coils are the same/opposite when put on the opposite side. Not sure what else I could change.

Also JMB's look very similar and he's had them on for 42k miles.

No problems at all. I was reading this thread on my front porch and figured, I can walk 30 feet and get a picture. My son in law put mine on because he has a real spring compressor. I helped some and paid my daughter's phone bill that month. I never really noticed until today. No abnormal tire wear, noises, etc. I've been on the beach probably 70+ times with them. Plus a few trail rides in GWNF.
