Welp, I'll be the first to report my Dasaita unit failed last night.

It had worked the night before, got in my truck yesterday afternoon and everything started up fine, but absolutely no audio. I didn't even have that "white noise" that we all know about.

I checked my amp fuse, my radio fuse - nada.

I know it's the unit because I took some speaker wire and jumped various speakers and got a popping noise from each one, so I know they are getting power and signal through the JBL amp.

So far Dasaita hasn't responded - I emailed them at noon their time (in China). They state these have a 12 month warranty, I bought it April 26th.

I'll update ya'll on what happens.

Disappointing - as I leave to go camping in a few hours.

Edit: Does anyone have a stock JBL radio from a 2007-2009 Tundra? I'd buy it from you or pay shipping both ways to test it out.

Well my brother' I'm sorry to hear that! Don't get your hopes up on a immediate responce. Its been three weeks since I returned my unit and I'm still waiting on a refund. My advise to anyone buying anything from China' Dont do it!!

Stick with Alpine' Kentwood, name brands you know and grew up with. Those big screen radios are nice, lots of features but no quality. Again I'm sorry to hear that! Hope things work out for you.

I just installed the joying intel unit. So far so good. I've had another joying unit, 4.4.4, in the wife's rav4 since 2016 ish. Still running ok. For what i use it for, it's ok.
Joying also offer 2yrs warranty on their unit. Their canbus harnes is direct plug 'n play, even for the factory camera. Even though they said it doesnt support factory camera on their site. The harness they send the 2nd time was the correct one for my sequoia with jbl. Everything plugged in. They even included the usb adapter cable to retain the factory usb/aux port. which i also bought one thinking they were not included. But it was.
True plug n play kit. I didnt have to modify anything. Except one small thing in the back for the swc to work. You also have to pick the correct canbus protocol for your vehicle. Anything camry or rav4 with (amp) will work with steering wheel control. 20200302_180431.jpg IMG-20200306-WA0002.jpg 20200406_151132.jpg IMG-20200406-WA0005.jpg 20200406_150625.jpg

For those who installed an aftermarket amp with their Dasaita, did you use the cutoff frequency and Bass frequency? I am assuming these are the HPF and LPF. I had them turned off and adjusted the crossovers on the amp. I had to adjust the loudness and bring up a tad the "G" on the Bass and "G" on the Sub for the subwoofer to produce good bass. Did you guys do the same? I am assuming the "G" stands for Gain and "F" for frequency. @916tundra saw you have some posts installing an aftermarket amp on your dasaita. What are your settings on this section that I just described? Can you please share.

Update: Dasaita is shipping me a new motherboard. Basically replace the guts of the Dasaita unit and keep the original screen/wiring/harness.

I will report back if it works.

Hey all, just purchased this unit. Went to install today and I have one plug that does NOT match up with corresponding plug on the harness. I believe it is my back up camera because that’s the only thing that does not work. Am I supposed to have a canbus for my truck. 2018 Tundra SR5

If you use google or any online base map, then yes.
If you use the offline map that came with the unit, then no.

Only if you are using an app that requires data. For instance Google Maps requires data unless you download offline maps but then it requires data for that. Waze is online only. Sygic is the best offline one I've used.

When you tap on navigation icon, does it open to google maps or other map app? It look as though that app you are using is trying to go online to get data. So you may need to hotspot your phone or use your home wifi to get the navigation to go online.

The search screen look like google maps. If it's google map, you have to be online for it to work. Unless you pre download the offline maps then it wont requires internet.

You need to change the navigation default to whatever the factory is so you can use the preloaded map on your map sd card.
Try looking under the setting for navigation and change it from google maps to the factory one, im not sure what that would be. But it should be there.

I just saw this comment. Hopefully I can help somebody after having the same issue. Sometimes the units come with different default settings. If you go in to the settings menus, you will see an option to have the front cam on or off. If the default is set to off, the fcam app won't appear. Once you switch it to ON, the app will be visible.

The yellow triangle usually means you have the input plugged in wrong. Even if the label says you've done it correctly, try a different yellow RCA. I have found 2 wires labeled incorrectly (the other was the sub out-it was switched with the mid out).

A general note for others on the fence about getting one of these: I like the unit, but there's a reason these cost ~$550 and the big Alpine unit costs ~$1500. There is definitely value here if you're willing to play around with the settings and you don't want to maximize every potential feature. You just aren't going to get Toyota quality for Yugo money.

    Hello all!

Sorry its been a while since I have been able to get on here, life has been in the way. Anyways Ive had the unit for almost a year and so far so good. Just a couple things I hope someone can help me fix

1 - When turning the audio volume from 0 to 1, the sound is loud for being the first step. After the first one, the sound gradually increases nicely. How can I get the 1st volume to be lower in sound?
2 - My Apple Car play will disconnect from my phone after 30 mins of it being connected. Do you think it could be a loose wire?
3 - How can i move the FCAM app to the front page? I cannot for the life of me get it to move off the page its on
4 - How do I update the AndroidAuto/CarPlay? I have the 1st version of the Android 9 system not sure if that helps

Thanks in advance for any help!

Just press and hold the icon then drag. Its kinda tricky to drag from one page to another. But just drag it to the left edge, wait a second and it will move to the next page.

Me personally I didn't notice a difference with the G in the eq for Sub wether it was all the way up or down. The eq setting for Bass is what I adjust and makes an audible difference on mine. Mine is set at 62hz and the gain all the way up. I am however using a 5 channel amp with a separate bass knob. So I only use the knob for quick easy adjustments.

Thanks @Cody010393... I see a difference on the "F" on the BASS level... I just tried the "G" all the way up and then play around with the "F" of the BASS... It makes a difference... I am guessing when it is "ON" it is limiting the Low Pass Filter, depending on what it is set. I am hoping when turned "OFF" that will be native and will allow the amplifier to filter the sound - hopeful on this. I bought a bass knob so i can just adjust the bass from there.

I also turned "OFF" the CUT FREQ, which I am assuming the High Pass Frequency. I set my HPF in the amplifier as well. The LOUDNESS I guess is four loudness, but what is PHAT? My SUB is also "ON" but I set the "G" all the way down. I set my gain on the amp for both the sub channel and the door speakers. I also have a 5 channel amp.

By the way, I do not get any distortion on the dasaita unit with the amp gain all the way down and the dasait volume all the way up. I could see the SMD hitting the test tones but no distortion at all. Anyone else getting the same result?

I am hoping @916tundra can share his experience on tuning his dasaita with an aftermarket amp. I do not have a CANBUS to begin with so not sure if that makes a difference.

    Thanks.

@916tundra @jmevis @minter66 @VTYOTA what did you set the CUT FREQ and BASS to? Did you turn them off? I am assuming SUB is “ON” and “G” is all the way down? Did you guys add a bass knob on your amplifiers and just adjust the bass from there? I plan to add a knob too. What did you set your PHAT and LUD?

If you dig through the settings (I think it's under system settings) you will see amp volume as an option. You can set that as low as -15 or something similar. That starts off volume 1 at a lower level, but you'll still have plenty of room to go up.

Uh, i'll have to take a photo. I set it all by ear until sound was groovy.

I get my replacement Dasaita motherboard on Friday - so hopefully I will be thumping along soon.

Thanks... I am curious how you setup your filters, LUD (LOUDNESS), PHAT, CUT FREQ, BASS, and SUB. Thank you.

Been really eyeing the dasaita for my ‘18 limited w/JBL but I’m not sure how that face holds up to off-roading?
    What’s your guys take?
After having one for awile would you recommend it?
