Thanks. Generally it's only good for a few years, painting would be much more durable. I've already got a rock chip on one of the bumper caps.

Like this look too. What size KO2's are you running? Did they require a lift kit/spacers or are you running stock suspension only?

 

Hey, guys, to paint this part, since the material itself is not real chrome, can I just paint it over or I still need to sand off the chrome surface?

 

There are a few youtube videos out there but basically I just scuffed mine up with 400 grit sand paper so that gloss was off it. No issues with the paint so far.

I bought it from a place near my house. It's a specialty paint store that carries a lot of automotive paints and clears. They match to factory color and put it in a can or spray. I got the spray.

1 can of primer, 1 of color, and 1 of clear. All got 3 coats. That covered the mirror cap and the bulge.

I've considered getting a spare hold bulge and trying my hand at paint. It seems like you can get the chrome ones for free or close to it.

 

So I ordered a painted bulge and platinum grille from eBay color matched to Barcelona red. I'll see how it matches when it arrives and I might post up another thread reviewing it. Hopefully I don't receive too much flaming for buying eBay parts.
