I know nothing about powder coat, is it a turn key service and is it color matched. What kind of cost should one expect for just the front bumper?

Bumper needs to be sandblasted first to remove the chrome, preped with spot sanding and then powdercoated.

The code I use is RAL9003, which is an industrial coating that doesn’t require any primer or clear coat. Some places will offer priming for extra protection but it’s not necessary for that specific one. I would ask a place for a few samples to compare to your trucks paint since over time it can change depending on sun exposure, but the one I use is pretty close. There’s no exact match, but you can get extremely close. I have the bumper ends on my 2017 crewmax in that color and nobody but me sees it. You can see some photos in my build thread.

A shop should charge you in the neighborhood of 100-200 for blasting and coating something of that size. Just bring em the bumper and turn around is about 2-4 days depending on how busy they are. They might try and upcharge with primer and clear coat but again, the RAL9003 is super durable and glossy as is, so it’s not necessary.

I’d check the area inside near the for lights for rust, as long as it’s surface stuff you’ll be fine. If it’s really eaten away you might wanna find another bumper.

Excellent! I picked up a 2nd bumper that's in better shape than the original about a year ago, now to find a shop that can do the job.

Turned out pretty good. Color is slightly off but not enough for me to care. Officially chrome free. Also the bumper was a pain because it was slightly bent from previous owner, but I did my best to correct it.

Interesting how there seems to be more 2007-2008 MY RCSBs than 2009+.

2009, '10 and '11 saw the lowest numbers of total Tundra production, '09 being the absolute lowest with 79,835. This makes the 2009 RCSB with a 5.7 the rarest of all Tundra trucks, the 2001 RCSB is the 2nd lowest production Tundra with 82,908.

Building a speaker box for the big ass back seat. Should hold a 15” @ 1500 watts. And still have room for tools.

everything’s pre drilled and just waiting on sub to show up. Moves easily up and out. Mock fitment says all the numbers and cuts lined up. Gonna our black carpet on box and sub will center between the two seats.

Got lucky and found a colored match cap for $400 on FB marketplace, will work on building a sleeping platform back there during this lock down, keep myself busy before i go insane. Looks like a grandpa truck now, but the cap is very useful.

Here is a picture of my 2008 RCSB 5.7L Tundra. I have done a full exterior conversion to a 14/20. I did swap out the seats from 14 to current model. Will be heading to the pain shop this week.

I haven't gotten to it yet, and I my not do it... my new mirrors have chrome caps so I may just go with the white grille, and a clean chrome bumper.
