I have been having a small wheel wobble at 65 mph. I went in to get my alignment and balance fixed. The mechanic suggested that I was due for new front shocks and struts in the near future, as the heavy weight of my 2015 Crewmax had pretty much worn out the stock shocks/struts in 77k miles.

Is he just blowing smoke and trying to upsell me? Or, should I take this enabling invite to finally make my truck more offroad worthy?

No. Replace them. I bought my truck with 84k miles, original shocks. They are shot. Two of them are leaking oil.

And yes, if you want better off road performance, now is the time to do it.

You bet. I'll warn you, shopping is a never ending maze of rabbit holes. Establish your budget, do some research, and don't be afraid to make a phone call or two. I found the guys at Wheeler Off Road to be very honest without trying to upsell me. Here in few weeks I'm going to pull the trigger on the Eibach Pro Truck struts, coil springs, and rear shocks, and the Icon expansion pack for my rear springs.

Boss offroad is having a great sale on 6112's assembled. I got my set from them. Great improvement for the Tundra and great customer service.

For what it's worth, my old 2015 NON-TRD 4x4 tundra had a leaking rear shock @ 50k miles. I believe those were the cheaper factory black Bilstein shocks??
Anyone, feel free to correct me on the brand

Look for about$600 for the 6112's unassembled.

+3 on bilstein 6112s. Awesome suspension that really soaks up the bumps. 10/10 would buy again

My 2015 Limited shocks were shot all around by 80,000 miles. They were the stock black Tokicos. Rode horrible as one of the rears had no rebound and both front were leaking. Replaced rear with Billy 5100s and front with 6112s at 1.3". Night and day. Just hope they last.

    For those that went with the 6112s (@Dano8855, @Bigbird57, @NWPirate, @Sumo91, @Trikerider):
    1. Is it a "must" to replace the UCAs with the front shocks? I plan to follow your lead here and only set a small lift in the front, and I (sadly) drive very little off road right now.
    2. Stupid question- should I get unassembled or assembled 6112s? @Bigbird57 mentioned a price point on unassembled.
    3. After getting some quotes from local shops, this is feeling more and more like a DIY project. If any of you went the DIY route, would you still recommend DIY? I've seen some helfpul youtube videos, but I can see how this would lead to cussing and maybe throwing a wrench down.

Definitely hit up boss-off-road, they have helped me out tremendously over the past few weeks and will continue to go to them for anything.

    1. Kept stock UCA, no issue but I kept the tire size the same width, went slightly taller. No issues that I was told of aligning.
    2. I got unassembled as they were cheaper, and a local 4x4 shop assembled and installed.
    3. I just didn't have time to do the install myself, I did the rears myself. I had the shop install the 6112s, I ran them for 2 weeks and then had them mount the new tires and align after things settled.

    1. if you are staying close to stock size tires, then yes you can keep the same UCA. I went to a 33" tire and everything is fine.
2 this is your preference. I got mine from boss off road assembled. It was easier for me to do that and then install them. BTW boss off road is a having a kick a$$ sale on assembled 6112's.
    3. it depends on your level of skills. It takes a little bit of time and patience, but it is very doable in the driveway. Like you said, there are several video's out there than can give you an idea of what your're getting into. Few cold beers also helps.

I bought unassembled and had a local off-road shop install mine also, stock uca's and I went 1.3 lift to keep a little factory rake for towing.
Still running the stock tires but plan on 275/70's soon.
    Hope this helps, enjoy!

Ok I missed the lift part. I’ve tried the 5100 experience on a Seirra and wasn’t impressed with the stiffer ride.

Yeah I had the 5100's on a Ram 1500 and was not happy with the ride.
    6112's are a big improvement

Update-- Boss 4x4, Wheeler's, and Headstrong all had great customer service. I cheaped out a little and went with Eibach Pro 3/1 all the way around. I read the reviews on them not being exactly 3" but wasn't really phased by that issue. I set them on the second notch and the truck is pretty much dead on level. Very happy with the ride quality, handling, and lift as a result. Will step up to the 6112/5160s next time around. Thanks to all for the helpful feedback.

I replaced mine around 40k miles. I never liked the stock, black shocks. I replaced them with Fox 2.0 coil overs and Fox 2.0 in the rear.
