So I mentioned in another thread the other day about what would be some lift options, and got a lot of good info. I wanted to start a new thread though so I could easily go back and find that info. Anyone who can offer more input or advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

    What I want to do:
I'd really like to go with 35's as my tires. I wasn't sure what size lift I'd need to do though so I wont have to chop anything up. Several guys suggested just going with the 3/2 level and a slightly smaller tire, I believe a 34.5 or so. So I guess my lift options are the BOSS or Bilstein.

I guess my question now is, how do you go about getting a good offset? Is that done just through the rims you go with? I dont want to have spacers on it. While on that subject, not sure if I want to keep the 20" or go with an 18" wheel. What wheel size and bolt pattern and offset should I be looking for?

Sorry to be such a newb at this. I'm pretty good with everything, but the lifts and things blow my mind, ha. I dont want to walk into a shop and get my eyes poked out just to get the look I want.

offset is determined by the wheel you choose. You definitely want to stay within the +18 to +35 The smaller the number, the more the wheels will stick out.

Wes, go with 18's at a 18 mm offset and you'll be good to go. They'll ride smoother (and look better) than 20's.

295/70/18s will fit without a CMC at that offset if you run the boss kit

Definitely will keep an eye on this thread. I'm new to the shocks and lift stuff as well since I've only ever had sports cars before this.

As far as your wheels go, your offset and backspacing is based off of your wheels. On our trucks around +35 offset gets you about even with the side of the truck. The +18 or +20 puts you even with the fender flares if you have them.

Wheels run a 5x150 lug pattern.

And as far as whether to stick with the 20s or 18s, it's all personal preference. If you're doing off-roading, a lot of guys like running the 18s because they can get more rubber aka cushion for their wheels. Although a 20" wheel is still capable off-road. Personally, I like the balance of a 18" wheel with 33" tires and a 20" wheel with 35+" tires. But that's just my preference.

Yeah, I have the fender flares, so I want an offset that is just beyond that I think. Much more than that and I think trucks look goofy, ha. I wont be doing any offroading, so either one will work for me. I was just thinking 18s because a lot of people go that route, but they are also usually a little cheaper than the 20s. Ha.

My offset on my wheels is +12. Set me flush to the outside of the fender flares before I removed them

I think with fender flares, 18 mm is a good offset. It will get you roughly even with pocket style fender flares. If you want the tires to stick out more your will have to get lower offset wheels. Then the chances are you will be getting a smaller tires. 0 mm offset, for instance, pretty much maxes out at about 33 inch tires. This is assuming that you don't want to cut anything serious on the truck.

Double post. Sorry, it's pain to try to post things on a iPad (I am so used to doing everything from my Computer)

18s will give you more comfortable ride. More rubber also means less chance of wheel damage. Cheaper to boot.

Thanks..! So in looking at wheels on 4 wheel parts for instance, I look for those with a 5 on 150. Is it an 18x10 or an 18x9? What is the difference? haha.. In Fuel, I'm seeing offsets of 20, 1, -12, -24. I guess I'd want to go with 20, huh?

18x9 or 18x10 is the width of the wheel. I think most people run the 18x9, which is what I have. It depends mostly on what tire you're going with. When you research the tire it will give you a list of approve wheel widths which is usually from like 8-10, so you should be good either way. I think the 9" is most common though. And yes, the +20 would be your best bet out of those options.

If you're keeping your flares, +18 is probably good. Remember, the more it sticks out, the more you're going to rub and either you have to get smaller tires or have to start chopping. As far as lifts go, these were the options I considered, depending on budget.

    cheap- go 5100's all around
    economical- OME lift
    medium- Fox or Toytec Boss
    baller- Icon or Kings

And I would try to stick to about 3"/1" to 3"/1.5". I think 3"/2" has way too much rake.

I think the 3/1.5 is the best look on a lift. Eventually, that's what I'm putting on mine.

Try to stick with 18x9. 18x10 will just add unnecessary weight on your wheels.

I was thinking that I'll probably go for the BOSS lift, but I'm not sure what the Fox lift costs. I want a really good ride, smooth like it is now. I think with one of those, you can adjust the back to be either of those settings, right? Yeah I want to keep the flares and really dont want to chop anything.

If you buy the shackles for the rear you can adjust it from 1" to 1.5"

I've been pricing some of the Fox stuff and it looks like the complete set of Fox would wind up costing around $2500. As best I can tell anyways.

I got the Boss and it's getting installed tomorrow. Got UCAs to go with it and I'm chopping the cab just in case; better to do now then worry about it later and miss another day at work for it. Staying with my 18x9 with +18 and going with 35s.

Yup that one looks good. I have +25 offset so my wheels are tucked in 7mm more than those +18's. I personally don't know how that'll affect rubbing. You may want to wait til @COMiamiFan does his to order your tires. You're going to be really close to having to do a CMC.

Yep. Will be posting. Won't be until Saturday as I don't get mine done until EOD Friday. So will be late to post pics. But drive home will be 40 miles so good chance to check the ride on the highway.

Just a heads up, if you run 35's I think everyone has had to do some minor trimming or heating and restructuring the front liners on the truck. I don't know how much you'd wanna trim.

I don't blame you. But the OP said he didn't want to do any chopping or anything. So I was just letting him know about the trimming and stuff. Didn't know what all he wanted to get into doing.

I've still got a little while before I can pull the trigger on everything, but I wanted to start researching it. Find what I want, price things out and go from there. Need to pay off some other stuff first, then figure out what to do so my truck can stay covered. With the lift and tires, I'm afraid I might have to modify my garage entrance to fit along with a new garage door, or build a carport over my storage garage to park under, haha.
