Just did a build and price on a 2020 Tundra for fun and came across the Comfort+ add on. Did a search here but can’t find anything. Does anyone know how the cabin heater works?

    https://www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/owners/accessories#/al/comfort-plus

    From Toyota.ca:

COMFORT+ Enhanced includes the Battery Trickle Charger, Cabin Warmer and Bluetooth Hub. For ultimate comfort, enjoy a warm cabin right from the start - no idling required. The Cabin Warmer is a sleek and compact interior heater that is permanently mounted inside the vehicle cabin. As the Cabin Warmer heats up the interior of the vehicle, ice and snow buildup on the exterior of the vehicle may be reduced, potentially eliminating the need to scrape away ice or brush away snow. By pairing the Trickle Charger unit with the Bluetooth Hub, the Trickle Charger unit can be used to control and schedule the Cabin Warmer through the Toyota COMFORT+ App.

This is quite interesting. Would never need this in Florida but would have liked it when I lived in NY.

Agreed but that price is Canadian money, installed, msrp for a bunch of things. So, probably like a $500 usd add on?

Hmmm. Some of the critters might like the heated cabin also if you live in the country..:spy:

Then I agree with you. Super pricey.

But I am really curious if the cabin heater can be purchased and installed separately. If it's a reasonable price and can be connected via a timer to the block heater I may be interested in it.

Can't buy the less wear and tear though.

If that wears out my tundra, I'll re evaluate my Toyota purchases. 300k on my Tacoma and still going strong

I'd consider it for a couple hundred dollars, but not what they want for it installed at least

@Roman is this a Canada only thing? Any insight to the components and potential costs?

I never said it would clap it out. You can't argue that MORE run time does not equal less or equivalent wear.

I am saying the extra wear from using a remote start and letting my tundra idle for 10 minutes would not be detectable over 10 years or however long you own it for.

Still trying to figure that out, but this is my current assumption:

The Bluetooth hub is a small processor (computer) that the block heater, charger and cabin heater connect to. Using your phones Bluetooth connection and the Comfort+ app, you can program on/off times and other functions. It's not built into the navigation/radio or connected to Etune. Completely separate unit. It also appears that all functions rely on a 110 plugin to work.

Eh..sounds complicated...doesn't get that cold here in SC. Sounds more like a cold weather package.

From what I am seeing so far, it's a Canada only accessory and definitely cold weather focused.

I like it, but would turn that on and idle the truck to get it heated up faster.. Takes forever to warm up in the cold.

I'm in Calgary and ordered a truck just before this covid-19 business. When I ordered it they were forecasting delivery end of April but who knows at this point. This is the 1 accessory I am getting but likely wont know if it was worth it until next winter. My assumption is that the electric heat will heat the cabin much faster than waiting for the engine to warm up.

Doing a little bit of digging into this, it looks like this is a rebranded "DEFA AS" system, more information can be found here: https://www.defa.com - a Norwegian company so these guys definitely know cold.

In cabin heater looks like a Termini II from the graphics.

I’m from Canada and in one of the coldest areas. I never heard or saw such an option and both my Tundras were ordered.

I think this is an option for certain regions of Canada “Northern Canada”. It would be similar idea to the TSS edition of the Tundras only sold in some regions of the States.

Or it’s an April fools joke by OP :)

You can find the defa heater that @Oats87 linked to on eBay for under $100. Toyota block heater is about $40. A good battery charger is maybe $100. Only thing you are missing is the Bluetooth. All for 1/4 the price.

No joke. Build a Tundra on toyota.ca and it’s in the accessory list. I called my local dealer and they confirmed it but had almost zero info.

Plugged my truck in tonight so I can try this out in the morning for the first time. Not cold at all yet only -3C tonight I think but wanted to try it out and see how it works on the “auto” setting.
