I unhooked my battery terminals to clean them, hooked back up and the DISTANCE TO EMPTY isn’t correct anymore. It’s about 100+ higher than what it used to read at this fuel level. I’ve already done a “maintenance reset”, didn’t change it. It is reducing in mileage like it’s supposed to, just way higher than it’s supposed to be. When I’ve filled up before, I’ve never gotten higher than 414 DISTANCE TO EMPTY. Thoughts?

disconnecting the battery resets the computer. it'll need 2-3 tanks to settle back to where it should be. no need to worry.

I think I might have a Stroke if mine said I had that kind of range!?!

Mine always starts that over-optimistically high at a full tank but for sure never makes it there. I make sure to confuse it as often as possible.

Mine goes up to 600+ miles to empty when I unhook my battery. If I remember right it fixes itself before I go through 1 tank.

Question, why do people even look at the distance to empty? That is what the gauge is for. I have never paid mine a lick of attention although I tend to not let the truck get below 1/4 and typically fill up at around 1/2 tank.

I find that Range to Empty to be my favorite gauge on a car where it means something!

Mine is accurate enough for me. I know even at zero I have 30 or so litres left in reserve, but always fill up when I hit about 30km left and it takes about 130 litres at that point

Right now I'm topping up more frequently with has prices dropping.

Yea for me to see the tank MPG I cannot avoid that bar as it is right below, the blue color makes me think I have my brights on even though it's nowhere near the bright indicator but its the same color. On my 20 I leave my lights on all the time so I worry about them accidently being on bright when I close the door they go off after 30 seconds or if I hit lock twice, it still beeps at me when I get out but they will go off I don't think my 17 would do that if I left the lights in the on position.

That’s based on optimal fuel mileage since the system was reset by disconnecting the battery. It will “re-learn” and adjust to what you actually are getting after driving for a while.

Just about every time I fill up it goes above 600. Haven't reset it in months. I stopped looking at it and just drive. I use 93 octane.

Yeah, the first 68k of it was put on it in the first year by the original owner. He essentially lived in it for 2016-17.

Just took my truck in for a head unit issue.
The dealer updated/reset some stuff and now mine seems to be reading accurate. Normally at full tank I was sitting around the 416 range.

It’s probably cause they unhooked your battery. Give it a tank or so and it might drop. If it does, try to unhook your battery again and it should change back.

I had the same “issue” on my 2016. My range would normally read about 415 to empty. About two months ago I took it to a dealer ( yes, for the infamous cam tower leak:(), after all said and done reading skyrocketed to a range of 550+ to empty. It is back to normal now, but most importantly no cam tower leaks :D:D:D:D
