Myself and the boys went camping last winter and got snowed in overnight. The snow was up to my knees at times and the 37's were 2/3 submerged in it. Everyone got stuck on the way back home, but we managed to get ourselves out in the end :)

That DCLB is a beast w/the suspension/tire combo. Unique. Bitchin' looking truck. Does it have low gears and lockers?

    Thank you very much guys!
No lockers or gears yet, spending all my money on the race Tundra currently.
The DCLB has a 13” lift on 37s with AWD conversion. Eventuality I’ll be adding a 3” body lift, 40s, 5.29 gears and front/rear ARB lockers.

Great videos but something I saw in the first video was several time front right and left rear spinning while front left was not moving at all. It appears as the differentials are not any better than the old school “Limited slip” that the big threes use?
So I guess that’s why locking rears and crawl control on Tacoma Pros are so crucial when wheeling. It makes me concerned about wheeling in deep sand this summer on Outer Banks.

The Tundra does not come with limited slip. They are open diffs front and rear.

How does the Limited Slip Differential in the 2018 Toyota Tundra work?
First things first, we’ll need to tell you a bit about differentials. Under your pickup truck lies many components and columns of your steering and powertrain, all of which work to supply torque (and brake power) to your wheels to help them get a good grip on terrains that may not provide for smooth footing. Differentials are put in place to harness the amount of power that is shifted to each axle, so as to prevent slippage of your transmission or your wheels.???

The Tundras aren’t open differentials, I thought they were a smart version of a limited slip. They are all Limited slip it’s just the technology behind their operation is what has me in the dark.

I am a Toyota Master Technician and the shop foreman at a Lexus dealership. I guarantee you that both front and rear differentials in the Tundra are open diffs without any mechanical limited slip action.
The only traction enhancement you can get is from the truck applying brakes to the slipping wheel to transfer torque to the wheel that has traction. This is not due to any magic inside the differential, which is a basic open diff.

My mistake, I guess my next mod should be either lockers or a winch. I have 4 wheeled all of NC outer banks as well as the entire Texas Gulf coast ( S.Padre Island from Mexico to the inlet towards Corpus and then the opposite way from Corpus back to the inlet.)I say that because I am a 60 yr old guy that had a 12” suspension and 3” body lift on my short bed Chevy in the late 70’s running 40” Ground Hawgs so I have been 4 wheeling my entire life.

I made those trips in my Jeeps, H2’s and my Power Wagon with locking front and rear diffs.so I am a bit spoiled and to be honest I knew the Tundras stock capabilities were limited but the Tacoma Pro was too small for my needs.

All that to say you educated me on the 4 wheel drive short comings of then Tundra, so Thank You for that.

Again it’s my bad for not doing more research regarding its capabilities when buying the Tundra, but I assumed it had a bit more technology in the off-road dept. Not an excuse but my purchase was spawned by a Lemon Law situation with my Ram and so I walked from one Hendrick store to the next and bought the Tundra.

In the 1st 2 weeks have put 3/2 lift, rims tires, Bushwacker flares, tint, tool box, and was currently looking at winch bumpers. I have a Teryx with a winch but always used the winch on my vehicles for downed trees etc.. on the back of the property.

Yeah, front and rear lockers and a winch would definitely improve the Tundra’s off road capability.
