I'm speculating that being locked @14.7 AFR in that scenario would also result in elevating EGTs over time (under those specific conditions only, not the life of the engine). Not desirable.

Yes being locked at 14.7 until you reach whatever commanded throttle % allows enrichment not only makes the truck respond worse in part throttle situations, but at the lower end of the rpm, 2000 and below, you can definitely feel that it is unstable.
This is especially an issue on the Harrops where there is considerably more air being moved even at these lower throttles.
So at 50% throttle, the ECU is not allowing ANY enrichment, and the truck is constantly bouncing back from leaning out. It will enrich only back to 14.7, > lean out > go back to 14.7 > lean out. This creates that choppy, unstable, and sputtering feeling. This happens whenever there is a change in throttle position that remains under the commanded throttle % to enrich.

Instead now it will activate based on RPM and engine load. The Engine can achieve 100%+ engine load at relatively low throttle % at low rpm. But it's NOT fueling for it (in the stock code). In our code, it will fuel for it as soon as any engine load is achieved at whatever the 3D map is tuned for, regardless of throttle position.

(engine load is calculated by air, so it makes sense to enrich based on air demand NOT throttle position!)

I understand, thanks! We were fighting this on the 1st Gen S/C'd Tacomas running a piggyback ECU. We could map out the open/closed loop back and forth to try to keep the AFRs and EGTs appropriate/safe, but the factory ECU always seemed to be able to intercede and ruin our long high speed runs or mountain pass climbs/loaded towing and we'd have to back out of the throttle.

What you're doing is awesome, thanks again!

    D = Map 1
if you press the Tow haul (S mode or non) = Map 2

Tow / Haul button is activation of Map 2, regardless of S mode

My AFR need work with this new patch but..

patch is in action > Closed loop feedback control with target richer AFR regardless of throttle position, instead RPM vs Load

So you're saying IF you have two MAPs installed, and you want to lock the TC in S mode, you have to do it in MAP 2, no matter what.

In that case, I'll just stick with one MAP.

This is intriguing @OVTune . So on my 2019 (Supercharged) the AFR, according to what the maestro is displaying on my head unit, goes from ~14.5 at 0-50% (~2k rpm) throttle to ~11.5 at WOT (~5k rpm). It shifts smooth and without hesitation.

So the questions are: Am I seeing real numbers, and if so is my ECU already programmed properly?

For towing an RV, is there any precautions I should be taking with the OV tune? I'm towing a Mallard M28 from Davie Fl to Hope Mills NC. I have the gear lock on my tune and run 87. Should I just tow in D w/ tow, or because I have gear lock just keep it in D (or S).

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Tastefully enhanced...
If you're towing anything more then 1k pounds, use the tow/haul mode...if you have a bunch of rolling hills you're navigating through, keep it in tow and throw it into S mode and augment the gears that keep your pace...less downshifting to keep transmission temps less...

HulkSmurf gave you good advice. I generally put the truck in tow/haul mode and D and let it do its thing...That said if I get into rolling hills and such where the Trans will lock and unlock the torque converter often...That is usually when I take control and use the S mode with OVTune's Gearlocking feature to hold the gear/TC locked and minimize trans temps.

stock 02 sensors are not accurate after 11.9 or richer AFR.
They can read richer but that's the limit in ECU. So you're not seeing the true AFR

    Do you have a Harrop?

Try 25-35% throttle around 1500 rpm, you'll feel it.

I'm still waiting for Magnuson to respond to my tune issue which needs some adjustments (slight pinging) when in high gear low rpm with moderate acceleration. I may just ditch that and start the process now with an OVTune. Any idea how long to expect for a base tune? Just trying to gauge my options at this point.

Alrighty guys. That fuel patch is done.

All standard patch stuff is done.

So, our tundra will be down for a little bit. (While we implement into ECUs).

Customer of ours has a built tundra and Harrop on 14psi.
We have to make a ton of custom code...what better way they getting our tundra setup to run 14 psi as well on a 75mm pulley.

now how long the stock engine / trans lasts on the much power. Lets see!
