I just bought 08 few days ago and would like to do some upgrades (non of my cars are stock). I read on here mixed reviews on bully and seem majority consensus is that unless I have header back and intake or SC, bully doesn’t do much. Any proven tuners out there or is it just waste of money?

You haven't read enough. It's for all 5.7s, NA, SC, gas or FFV. Pretty much custom tune. I have the first flash on mine and is not yet tailored based on my logs sent back in, and it's already so much better than stock. Better than DAP tune. Coupled with BAM mufflers, it's really nice. Tailored to whatever octane you wish to run, or two different octanes at the flip of a switch, transmission is also tailored, etc, etc.

Do some more reading. And it's not sold out, just suspended for a time while he works on the tunes already submitted. He's trying to finish up the Tacomas right now so he can concentrate on our Tundras.

I went with DAP tune about 2 years ago, it works very well with my BAMuffler and AFE Drop in Dry filter. That all being said, I will probably upgrade to the OVT when their installation is simplified - I don't want to buy a laptop.

I was considering DAP over bully. How much hp/tq does the tune add?

Not yet. I don't have a need for it at the moment, but I will be getting that. I prefer this to e-tunes as the MPVI2 is supported by many many tuners across the world. The tunes you get using an actual live tune are tailored to YOUR truck and YOUR driving needs. I come from a tuner car background, Subaru to be specific. The scene there is has a lot of e-tuning going on, but the live dyno tunes done by knowledgeable tuners have always treated people better.

I believe @Kerch71 has the MPVI2. If he does, he may be able to give more info.

Average power gains have been 15-20HP peak gain, and 20-30 low and midrange power gain.

When I had my truck on the Dyno, the stock tune, unfortunately, made more power than the dap tune I had on my truck. There isn't a better option than OVtune at the moment. My truck is na and dual exhaust.

The Dyno info on the first post was from my truck.
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/ovtune-3urfe-tundra-ecu-tune-development-thread.44977/

I've had the hypertech which made my truck a little peppier and bullydog. The BD tuner was the worst. It probably made more power than when I had dap, but it caused my 2nd gen to think it was running ethanol.

    Haven't tried hp.

I actually stuck with my Bullydog after seeing impressive numbers on a dyno. 463 hp at the crank and 475 ft/lbs of torque. Didn't see the need to switch to HPtune.

That IS the one, and they are AT THE MOMENT sold out, as I explained in the previous post, and NO, it is NOT just for SC. I don't know where you get that idea. The link you provide has two drop down menus that give the option of choosing whether you're seeking a tune for SC or Non SC, and flex fuel or non-flex fuel....just as I said before. It even defaults at non-flex fuel, non-SC.

Not sure. Also, I have a flex fuel engine, and the HP tune doesn't play well with the 5.7L Toyota engine. You can get it to work, but it's a hassle (so I was told by the dyno guys).

There's people tuning reliably with it. I know there were some things when it first got introduced that needed to be figured out, but it seems like those growing pains are sorted out now.

Prospeed in Texas is having good luck with the HP.

For the $$ bullydog is What I recommend. It gives you the ability to change the way the truck drives to suit your needs.

but if you want the very best, OVTune all the way!!

Thanks Mike, I put quote they put on this particular tuner " Tune your Supercharged FFV Tundra the RIGHT WAY!" and I assumed it's geared for SC tundras. Thanks for clarifying.

The bdx is super convenient. And a great tuner if you just want to download one tune and go. The platinum allows you to configure and store three tunes and swap from tune to tune with relative ease.

Bullydog tuner is the best purchase ive made for the truck. It really drives better in all conditions

is it 40417? Are they universal for many truck applications or is there one specific for Tundra?

ohhhhh so it has to be specify for tundra? @dirtydeeds is that so? Dirtydeeds doesn't sell for 08. It's 10+ is there reason for that?

Bully sells it on their website as well but it's not truck specific. I am confused.
