Hey guys and gals, I'm new here so stick with me. Got an 01 Tundra and when I fag it from 1st to 2nd it shifts really hard like a hard jump. Also it kind of hesitates before it will shift, but when I drive like a normal person it does fine and none of the other gears shift this hard. The fluid is good and I've never done anything that far down. Any and all help is appreciated.

    Really hope you ment "gas".

Does it jump when cold or hot? How old is the ignition system? Is the CEL on?

Don’t forget, his is a first generation so he doesn’t have the same anything that we do. No S shift. Just a four-speed transmission.

OP, I would start by cleaning the mass airflow sensor and throttlebody. Get the proper cleaning fluids. Are you getting any check engine lights?

I haven’t driven my Sequoia in a while, since my daughter pretty much confiscated it LOL. I had to think hard about the options for shifting. Getting them confused with my Tundra.

It jumps everytime, and when I say jump, I mean I'm pretty sure the tires spin s little when it shifts...but every other gear is perfect

Cleaned the sensor and changed all fluids last night but didnt get to drive it, started it this morning and now there is a whining noise that's seems like it's only present when cold. It would get louder as the rpms went up though.
