    Good Morning to all,

My truck has a terrible creaking, squeak when going over speed bumps in a parking lot. Not bombing over bumps, I’m talking 1-2mph (idle) over them. It’s embarrassing and frustrating, sounds like a 30 year old trash truck. I’ve had trucks my whole life from work vehicles to other personal trucks and this is the worst.

Any ideas what it is? a fix?

    ‘18 Limited Crewmax 29k miles
Its had a creaking, squeak before these but:
For what it’s worth, otherwise stock.
    -6112 in front
    -5160’s in rear
    -TRD rear sway bar

    Thanks - James

Did you see the other thread where they were talking about being the bed mounts? Can you re-create the squeak just getting in the back of the truck? Make sure your bed bolts are tight, 62 ftlbs. Did you upgrade the shackles and bushings?

There’s a bed brace I saw someone mention. I have a 2018 CM and haven’t heard this yet but I think that’s what it’s for. I’ll see if I. An find the link.

Just a thought but maybe it’s the sway bar? Obviously that sucks to remove but it’s manageable, likely the cheapest fix if it ends up being the issue.

I didn’t see that yet. Stock shackles and bushings. I will see if I can recreate the sound by getting in the bed.

Appreciate the feedback. I seem to remember it squeaked before I added the sway bar but I might have to start the process of elimination and remove it. Thank you.

Thank you. Mentions off-roading and sheet metal channel tearing but no creaking, squeak. Might be one in the same tho. Interesting...

Update: Success! got around to taking off my TRD rear sway bar and the noise went away. Yes!!!

I bought it second hand and when I installed it I torqued it correctly. I’m wondering if the bushings are worn, they look to be in good shape tho.
    Anyone use better aftermarket bushings?

Not sure if I’ll put it back until I tow but I’m thrilled the bed noise is gone. Hope this helps the next person.

Did you try regreasing everything on the sway bar? It comes with grease for the bushings when new.

They seemed to have plenty of grease on them when I bought it off another fella. I didn’t add any grease at that time. Later, I did add some as I was trying to figure out where the noise was from, seemed to help but still made a racket.
For now I’m ok going without the bar (it’s nice not to hear anything) but given all the free time I have I’ll clean it all up, re- grease and eventually try it again.
I haven’t noticed much difference in rear sway without the bar yet, maybe the 5160’s are helping vs the stock 4600 or maybe I haven’t hit a turn fast enough haha.

    Thanks for the info.

If I were a betting person I would’ve never thought that’s where the noise was coming from but after research and personally doing the leaf packs the squeak was gone

Yep lube or shoving a cut piece of bicycle tire inner tube in there. That's how we were fixing the squeak on the newer Silverados rear end.
