Tire pressures

New owner of a 2020 Platinum. This is my first truck and was surprised to see they recommend 30psi for fronts and 33psi for rear wheels. The dealership delivered the truck to me with 37psi in front and 36psi in the rear in 15F temps. I always just follow there sticker on the door for tire pressure but these seem pretty low - any reason to run higher pressures? I've read a couple of threads with people getting poor tire wear.

 

I run mine at 40 all around, I don't remember why - but I remember researching and deciding that was best for me.

 

stock tires you good with 35+. if you get bigger off road tires later one. 40 psi is good for the tundra.

My sticker on my door says 30 in front and 33 in back but I just leave mine at 33 in the front and 36 in the back. It's winter here so my dealer told me to fill them higher cause of cold temp changes.

 

44 psi on all four tires. I'm on 275/60/20 Nitto Terra Grappler G2's.

 

You are on stock P load tires, so go by the door sticker. You could add a few more LBS if you like. It would be helpful to add some when/if you do any towing. The stock P load tires do not require high PSI to carry the designed load. They probably have a max PSI of around 40 PSI. On your door sticker will be a load index showing that the stock tires can "carry"...how many pounds, based on the specific pressures listed on the sticker.

If you ever move to a larger LT type tire- C, XL, E load tires you would need to run them at higher pressures to handle the same load. LT tires have max pressures that are much higher than standard P tires...up to 60, 80 PSI, etc.

I usually run my crewmax 4x4 at 33psi front and 35 rear, a few pounds higher than the sticker indicates...stock Michelin tires with the OffRoad package.

What tires are on your truck? What size? What rating? There is not enough info for us to guess what pressure is appropriate.

On passenger tires I generally run 10 percent higher than the door sticker on stock sized tires just for gas mileage, but I do the chalk test to be sure I won't wear out the centers.

On E rated tires I don't think any rule of thumb applies, you must chalk test.

 

He has a brand new truck with the stock tires- 2020 platinum

 

I run about 124psi in my Cannondale.
Does that count for anything on this thread?

2018 Tundra with LT275/70R18 at 45psi

 

I run. 37-39 PSI in my 275/55/20’s year round. It’s a harder ride than the door sticker pressures but the handling is much better as is the mileage.

 

I've seen plenty of dealerships throw aftermarket wheels/tires on brand new trucks. I don't like to assume.
