6112 and 5100 on rear

    Ok. I read pretty much every thread and I think I’m making the right choice. I ordered 6112’s on highest setting and want to put toyotec 1-1.5” shackles Also. Can I use 5100 shocks on rear with the shackles? Or should I bite the bullet and get the 5160’s? I will be towing a boat (9000) lbs and enclosed Mx trailer. Thanks

    I’d get a rear shock that will accommodate that lift 5100s I think are good up to an inch but I could be wrong. Are you off roading and flexing a bunch? If not you will be ok with either one honestly. You are just limiting the travel. So I guess buy once and do it right if you are particular about that.

    R1 do you have shackles?I just wanna make sure that they’re going to sit. I don’t do too much off roading where I’m gonna be flying down fire roads but I want to make sure they fit and smooth out the ride nice. From reading Sounds like they are better than stock

    Well from what I'm reading the 5100's only allow 1" of lift. The 5160's allow for 1.5" lift. Top setting on the 6112 is 2.5". IDK what the rake of the truck is, as I haven't measured it yet, but if you go with highest setting 6112 and the 5100 at 1", you'll be offsetting 1.5" towards the front. I'm also not sure what rake you are required to have for TSS to still work, someone with some more knowledge on this point will chime in, but with how much you'll be towing, I'd want to get the rear up higher. Go for the 5160's

    5160 has 1 inch more travel than stock. With that being said a shackle would give you the most out of your suspension. Also you need it if youre going to raise the front 3 inches unless you like the prerunner look.

    My bad I didn't read you have an 07. so you don't have to worry about the safety sense not working without a rake.

    There is no adjustment for rear shocks on 5100 or 5160. It’s the shackles that will give him rear lift and determine ride height. The rear shocks have different travel lengths but as long as you only change the rear shocks ride height will remain the same regardless of which shock he uses. With that being said intow a heavy load often (7000 lbs or so) and I love my 5160 as opposed to 5100. They stay cooler longer and have less fade over long trips due to the reservoir.

    If you don’t tow and or don’t off-road so much you’ll probably be happy with the 5100. Someone will correct me but I believe the 5160 is just ab5100 with a reservoir.
