Have been reading the absolutely amazing thread "6112 Setting and Tire/Wheel Combo Thread" and did not want to hijak it with a completely different subject on the 6112. My question is ride quality at different height settings. Over and over it is posted to only go with the 1.9" height as it "maintains" ride quality and the 2.5" hurts it significantly. Several posts even suggest the 1.9" setting and adding either a 1/2" shim or 1" shim to retain the good ride quality. My question is for anyone who has played with both settings and is the 2.5" really a huge difference? Thanks in advance for any comments.

Oem tonneau, side steps, spray in liner. Trd skidplate.
Imo changing from a p rated tire to a load range e is way worse for "ride quality" than the setting from 1.9 to 2.5.

The 6112 at 2.5 setting is a very nice controlled ride, will it feel like a nicer set of Fox's at low speeds, no because of bilsteins being digressive. So for the mall crawlers the speed bumps can be jarring but get some speed offroad and then you really understand how they perform.

The spring used with the 6112 is designed to maintain its compression and rebound qualities throughout the height settings. With that being said, you are adding more preload are 2.5 vs 1.9, but it will not be as dramatic a negative effect on the spring as it would be with a stock spring slapped on a 5100 since the stock spring is not designed for added preload. Will you be happy with the ride quality at 2.5? Absolutely. Will you be happy with it at 1.9? Absolutely. The top setting will inherently be a smidge “stiffer” than the 1.9, but like I said, the spring is designed to basically maintain its properties within a certain percentage even at the highest setting. I personally run them at 1.9 and my truck rides like a dream. I even had a co worker with a Cadillac Escalade tell me my truck rides better than his haha.

If you want 2.5, go for it. It will still ride great. If you go 1.9, keep in mind there is only so much thread on the bolts where they attach to the frame. So the most you can do is 2 shims on the driver side and 1 on the passenger side. 2 on driver to account for tundra lean. After 2 shims, you run out of available thread for the nut.

So I went from a 3" spacer lift to 6112s set on the 3rd notch. I could not tell a difference in ride quality. I asked the local shop if they could adjust the springs to allow for a softer ride and they told me it wouldn't really matter. Since I didn't like the height, it lowered my truck, I removed the 6112s. For now I put the stock springs and spacers back on.

The ride for me on the 6112s on the top setting is much nicer than when I was on 5100s on the top setting. I also have E rated tires that have stiff sidewalls. If I was running 8 ply it would more cushy.

I'm running 6112s on the second to the lowest setting with a CB shim on each side.
I got 2.5 of lift out of it on a 2WD.
The ride is pretty stiff, I won't deny that..
But I'm running KO2s, the stock KOs gave me an even stiffer ride...

Have to agree 1000%. Went trailing this weekend and was able to keep significant speed even on the rougher terrain. Truck handled all the heavy trails like a champ. The ride is way better than stock as well - even at 2.5.

449AAF9E-7810-40E1-B488-C767B3C7A391.jpg I had 5100s on the top setting on my Tacoma.... rode pretty rough. I have 6112s on the top setting on my Tundra and 5100s in the rear......love the ride! Not mushy or stiff.....just right.
