So here we are. Waiting for tax returns, making a list. Have 105k last belt was Conti cause the sticker on the pulley housing says 56k done.

So I have skills. Wrenched for a paycheck as small engine tool mechanic.

    Haven't come across a straight up v6 gen1 timing/h2o pump thread.

Anyone that has done this have a time estimate. Just asking cause looks like a pain in the ass cause of plenum removal.

Might be over overthinking the whole thing but alas that's where y'all chime in..

    Thx

3.4 timing belt on the tundra is the same as the tacos. just more room. look up the timmy videos on youtube and you'll be set. Its an easy t-belt to do. best part is, if you mess up timing it, you wont hurt anything! the 3.4 is non interference. but its hard to mess up.

This is a pretty good walk through:
    http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenance/timing_belt/
There are also numerous youtube videos if you like those.

It's more fiddly than the V8. Give yourself a whole weekend, so you're not frantic. Give yourself room, so do things like remove the radiator. Technically you don't have to, but the job is a whole lot harder without the room.

The crankshaft mark is surprisingly hard to see and get aligned. The camshaft sprockets are quite visible, but you'll find things don't quite line up perfectly. I'd strongly suggest using a sharpie and or paint pen on the sprockets and belt, to make it easier. Mark your old belt and sprockets before your take it off. Put the same match marks on your new belt. Install the new belt lining up those marks.

Starter motor, breaker bar, frame rail will take the crankshaft bolt off quite easily. Breaker bar and hammer will get the bolt back in and vaguely tight enough.

Yes, I'm not the only one. Just put alot of Red locktight on the bolt when installing. You could always just buy my V8, timing belt just done, comes with trans.

Thanks for your input. I plan on doing it myself, done if a couple times in 18yrs with the Porsche I had. I'm just irritated that the plenum has to come off to start. I'm budgeting a Thursday and Friday to get it done with the weekend as a safety net lol. I was trying for a chain but the trucks were hard to come across.
