So I want to cover up chrome on interior of Tundra and I have found forums to do that My questions is what are the recommendations for paint? Could I use plasti dip? I used plasti dip on an old Challenger I had.

Also for the End caps on both bumpers what is you recommendation for painting. I had a few people say to ruff it up and then use a primer and paint. Any suggestion on both of those? Also someone suggested spray in bed liner to paint it. Is that any good?

Any suggestions or Tips I appreciate

I wrapped my bumper ends last Jan (19') and they still look good. I know it won't last as long as primer and painted bumper ends, but for $150, it's not a bad option.

I used plasti dip on my interior ones only 2016. I put ajt designs in my 2020

As for the bumper, scuff it up really good, then when you think it's done, scuff it up more. Primer and paint. I did my 2016 while they were on the tundra

Aren't some of the 3rd Gen owners using something called Bumpershells or something to that effect?

I took my bumper off, had the end caps sandblasted to remove the chrome finish (i think i was charged $30 or $40 total for both end caps), then i had them painted at a shop. Paint has stuck nicely, and since it was prepped well there’s a mirror shine unlike the plastic end caps which can sometimes have a textured appearance depending on how they prep it.

I protect-dipped my end caps and am happy. It was a quick fix to get me through the winter, and I'll be painting them permanenetly in the summer or maybe the following summer, depending on how I feel.

I wrapped mine almost two years ago. Zero issues.
Whether you wrap or paint; the two main keys for long term success and durability; quality products and prep!!!

    What color is your truck?

You got any pics with them installed on the truck? What paint did you go with and did it match pretty well?

    The biggest thing...Cleaning!
I degreased the hell out of mine with Super Clean, then gave them a good washing with Dawn dish soap, and just before wrapping used a lint free rag with 70% alcohol to wipe down the surface one last time to remove any dirt or oils (from your hands).

Of course, your work area too. I did mine inside. I sat mine on a big fold-out table. While the garage wasn't to dirty, inside the house was cleaner and (at the time) warmer.

Which is the other 'prep' element to keep in mind; Temp/humidity.
While you'll definitely need/use a heat gun at times, if the air temp where you're working is under 65 (like in a garage this time of year perhaps), the vinyl may be more likely to cool down quicker giving you less time to stretch and shape. Reheating areas repeatedly increases your risk of burning/scorching the vinyl. On the other end, if it's to warm, your vinyl may stretch to easily which can lead to more wrinkles, especially around corners, and clean tucks around edges.

Lastly, Good tools are a must! Get a good squeegee with a good felt-wrapped edge. If you only get one, it should have some flexibility IMO...nothing to rigid or to flexible. Also consider a good wrapping (lint free) glove.
And use a new/clean razor! I used my Xacto knife with all my wrapping.

The best solution is getting the bumper ends pro prepped and painted. Mine are wrapped, maybe 2y+ and it doesn't look great closeup, chips, underside peeling, fade. It started out pretty close to the black paint. I'm sure any other body color/shade is harder to match. Plastidip is budget friendly, requires touchups, DIY messy but works for some. I see some members here with impressive wrapping or paint skills too. And we have a vendor that sells caps as well. Depends on what you want to spend, what you're willing to do yourself.

cool great info....I am buying the wrap but having a shop do it but I didn’t figure they would be the same steps as if you were painting. Thanks!

Sounds good. Are you taking them the truck or the parts?
If you're taking them the truck, ask them if they'll be taking the parts off.
Reason being, confirming how they will plan to do the edges?

By taking the parts off (aside from the cleaning), it allowed me to take the wrap around to the back/underside of the parts.

Aside from the complete coverage, it prevents the potential for the edges to pull up (over time) from exposure to elements, washings, etc.

I just had my chrome bumper ends wrapped. It looks much better. If the rain will stop and the sun shines again soon, I'll take better pics.

Mine are wrapped as well in 3M gloss black wrap. It came out pretty good and they've been wrapped since July.

Like many have mentioned though, I've kept my expectations realistic and I know the wrap is only good for 2-3 years and I'll need to either wrap again or paint.

It matched perfect. I also did the rear caps and mirror caps. I bought color matched paint from automotive touch up and 2k primer.

Haven't seen many that are two tone between the grill surrounds and bumper de-chrome, looks great! Mirror caps look great as well.

To be honest I'm not sure, a local vinyl guy did it for me. All I remember is that he said it was 3M gloss black vinyl.

Looks amazing! Did you have to remove whole bumper or did you just order caps and paint them yourself?

Vinyl Wrap is GLOSS970RA-937 - ORACAL Series 970RA Vinyl Wrap Film W/Rapid Air | Gloss Charcoal Metallic from metrorestyling.com

The black bumper was on the front and rear when I bought the truck. I just covered the chrome end caps.

Night and day!! looks amazing, I see you snuck in some headlights too. Is the middle of the bumper grey on your truck? I think its black on mine.
