I've installed a few sets of Hikari's in other projectors. They are nice bulbs for the masses. No warranty claims on them yet. Only reason I didn't buy them to pair up with the Alpharex's is depth of the fans. I'm not too sure they'll fit in the limited space inside the dust cap.

Frogman said the GTRs fit, so I tried to find the budget leds that imitated the size.

I'll try to take some pics this weekend. They are a tight fit but do so without modification. I'm sure they aren't the only ones that will fit behind the dust cap but without a cut sheet for dimensions, we may have to rely on real world testing of various bulbs.

You said the S-V.4 bulbs were the wrong style for this application. Can you elaborate?

He probably had the H11s for the oem headlamps and the Alpharex's call for H7s

Yes, the S-V.4 that I had already purchased were H11 style bulbs those will fit the factory style reflector hosing but not the projector housing. The projector housing needs a H7, that's why I had to buy new bulbs.

Sorry for the confusion I should have elaborated in the original reply.

Thanks for the explanation and compliment! I may splurge too given that there is a lifetime warranty and I plan on keeping my truck for the rest of its lifetime:). I’m be looking forward to the pics of fitment to finalize me decision.

Another question: Do you think the LED will hold up since all it (fan and controller) will be in a little area with no ventilation. What about the heat from the controller? Do you think it will melt any part of the housing?

These are all concerns that I also have. I plan to check it every few weeks to see if there is any melting of the plastic housing. I have more of concern on the longevity of the the LED driver and bulb itself but I guess only time will tell how those will fare.

Alright, I just took the headlight out to grab some pictures. These should better illustrate the tolerances between the dust cap and the LED heat sink. This should also give everyone an idea of the usable space inside the headlight housing. Notice you can see the scratches in the dust cap from it's contact with the heat sink.I hope this clears up what I was trying to explain.

Thanks, this clears it up for me. I'm still a little concerned about the lack of heat dissipation, but with a lifetime warranty I don't see how you can go wrong with that combo! I may buy the Hikari lights so we can do the comparison and check to see if they can fit....on the fence though at this point.

Awesome pictures (including the PC setup)! That clears up a ton. So it's not axial clearance that is the major fitment concern - it's radial clearance.

Based on the scratches on the inner diameter of the cap, it looks like the cap is deep enough that there is some airflow allowed behind the bulb. The scratches don't go past that step which is maybe 1/4" deep by the looks of it. While not the best case, it's certainly not the worst.

Correct, that's exactly my feeling. If the dust cap was centered over the bulb I'd be happier but, the fitment could be much worse. As it is now I don't think Ill have to worry about it.

No problem, I'm glad I can give everyone a better idea of the bulb clearance.

Are those the bulbs that need the adapter? I'm curious to see how those work out for you.

They are Amazon Chinese generics. All the reviews are for euro cars which said they all needed retaining adapters so the wire clip holds. Looks like I won't need the adapters.

    For future clarification

Can somebody pretty please post a picture of their plugs on their Alpharex lights? I was told by Alpharex that I should be able to reverse my plug ins and be good to go. However,my current plugs won’t let me do that. They have the “nubs” that latch onto the clips and I can’t get them plugged in if I turn them around

The tech kept trying to tell me wires and color codes to look at and match up,but I politely told him I had already taken the lights out of the vehicle and was not going back out there since I was frustrated.

They are sending out a new pair and hopefully that will eliminate The issue.

They are also supposed to be upgrading me to the next highest “pro” level lights that are a darker black trim all around.

Hopefully everything is okay when the new set arrives.

It is wishful thinking maybe they will Throw in a coupon with the replacement set haha

I was a little concerned for you at first, but that is still pretty nice they didn’t leave you hanging. I’m sure once this matter is resolved, you’ll love these headlights.

I don't have a picture but I can confirm that I wasn't able to swap the hi and low beam connections due to the "nubs". I wasn't trying to swap the leads I had just accidentally tried to plug one into the other. That's when I discovered they couldn't be swapped. Now MAYBE they could be forced to fit but, but I won't be willing to try on my set.

    Couple problems I had:
High beam connectors wouldn't engage on both sides. Ended up pushing a pin out on the Alpharex connector trying to force it and had to refinagle the pin back into the connector to engage.

My filler plates are now loose. Those things are really 1x use. You're lucky if you didn't snap the pins that go into the fender.

The attached positive terminal for the led strip kit was too little to go over my battery terminal bolt. Cut and replaced with a bigger wire terminal.

Thanks for the info. I think everybody agrees about the filler plates. Wouldn't be as bad if they readily sold pre-painted replacements.
