275/70r17?

Anyone run 275/70r17 and have pictures? There isn't a lot of options available but I have been looking at the firestone destination a/t c-rating. Just seeing if anyone has any experience with the size.

Great size in my opinion. I wish there were more tire options to bring the price down. I sold a set of BFGs on an 05 Sequoia with some black rhino wheels and a 2” lift. It was the perfect mix between big tire and not over doing it.
Not too wide. Not too tall. Not too heavy. Perfect for a Toyota.

 

Are you absolutely set on that size. If so, are the tires a great deal? Or is it for potential fitment issues?

 

My buddy just put some BFG's on his truck in that size with 5100's and I think they are on the 4th notch. Great size for no rubbing but like @Scuba said expensive cause there arent a lot of options out there.

Billys can only be set so high on the AC models.

Double check Billys website. Believe 5100’s can go no higher than second notch on AC. DC can go all the way up. Just make sure you check specs first as OP has a Access Cab.

I was actually gonna say it’s a horrible size, because of the price and lack of options. I just don’t see much gain or benefit by going 275 over the 285/70/17

 

Id need more lift to run 285, but I am a little over level in the front and I have 265/70/17 atm which look a tad small. I need to measure but I think I could run 275 without a problem. Price wise It is cheaper for me to get 275s then new suspension and 285s.

 

Fair enough, how much are the Firestone’s your looking at?

The only review on the Amazon page is by a guy who has a 2003 tundra and loves his tires haha.

 

Those Firestone’s are probably fine tires. I will urge you to at least consider/look into the p285/70/17’s. Most of them are about 45lbs. each and they run small. I’ve run the hankook dynapro AT and they are a great all around tire. If you choose the 275/70/17 size, check out this link for the new design.

After thinking about it, I kinda want to lift a little more and get p/285/70/17. I just need to figure out how much lift I need.

Awesome, there’s actually a pretty decent selection of 4 ply (P rated) options in that size. Here are a few I found that I wouldn’t hesitate to run on my vehicles. I personally run the p285 70 17 nitto g2 on my 2006. Unfortunately some brands like Hankook don’t offer a 4 ply in that size

I was reading your trucks bio on your page. What suspension setup do you run on your 2006 and also how do you like the banks exhaust?
I have been looking at mbrp exhaust, jba and bamufflers but I cant deside. My uncles 2001 for some reasons sounds like it should but mine on my truck is very quiet (they are both stock), and I want more v8 sound. Also, for the headlights on your 2002, did the 2005 ones just fit or did you need some modification?

 

275/70/17's KO2's

 

I've had these 275/70R17 KO2s on the truck since I picked it up almost 2 years ago. It's really a perfect size for a lifted DC...should have been the factory size with 4.30 gears. I do wish there were more options, though...especially in C-rated. These E-range KO2s are way overkill for what I do and they don't balance well...and they're almost 15 pounds heavier per tire than the stock size. Whenever I replace them I'll likely either go with a differnt 32" size (for more choices) in P- or C-load or drop down to 265/70R17 (again, for more choices).

 

How much lift do you have? I only raised the front 2" and had no issues fitting 285/70/17's. I didn't even trim the usual places. I touch the frame at full lock, but only in reverse.

 

I run 275/70/17s General ATs on my 04 DC very little rubbing only when I turn left,on stock suspension

 

Bilstein 5100’s in front, but on lowest setting. No rubbing that I can see but I just installed them yesterday.

 

Check your clearance between the UCA with those wheels.

 

285/16s are where its at. Moar tire

 

I had a chance to drive her, and I think some spacers are in order. Any consensus on what is good, hubcentric, and not thick?

Spidertrax installed. No rub, but I had to take the front mudflaps off.

Not optimal - tires stick out (2000 Tundra, without the fender flares), and no mud flaps. I wonder how much nasty stuff will be flung around.

 

Lots. You’ll be a slave to washings after every rainfall/snow event. Sideview mirror will get abused, as well.

 

Solution = get fender flares

 

I like both of those stock Toyota wheel choices.
