Continuous left CV axle break

I will say it rides great, just nervous about locking it in 4wd now. I dont get mine off road much myself, but if I decide to go somewhere, I want to know I have all resources working to get me out. Lol

 

And that pic you posted, I see they cut your rear cross member out, apparently I spoke with RC several times, cause mine is not cut as per the online instructions, they say I have an older version lift kit, and I do have the diff drop kit as well, and my CV axle angles are like yours, and I'm on stock struts, like stated earlier I have the older version struts that RC put out, but have to put on, and if and when I do off road I try not to turn too sharp

 

so i have the same RC lift you do as well, frame chop for the diff drop .......but i also run factory suspension in the front with an RC strut in the rear only. also in the front are spacers/blocks for allowing the factory struts to work/fit, appears to be the only difference that i can see on our setups.

i do use four wheel drive quite frequently but i try to baby it as my younger years proved lessons on how quickly you can tear these things up. i haven't had any issues yet on cv axles and hope it stays that way. hope this info helps you out.

hey Adam, i'm no installer so i'm not entirely sure. my only guess is to allow a straight path for the driveshaft instead of requiring a drop kit for it, allowing for no extreme angles.

 

Not for the CVs, aftermarket UCAs would potentially allow for more droop which would make your issue worse.

 

You cut the subframe to bolt in the drop bracket. The drop bracket is where the LCA attaches, new alignment cam location, etc. This is why you actually lose ground clearance when doing a drop bracket lift. A 3" on 35s has the same if not better ground clearance than a 6" on 35s.

Is there any solution found? I am having the same CV issue. Have looked at other lifts installed and they are not extended out like my axle is.

Wholly hell, lucky to not have broke the neck off those shocks!!

 

Dude, don't drive anywhere before you get some serious extensions on the front bump stops or you might be buying two new shocks because when they compress to the limit and take all the force the necks will bend or break off.

 

Working on the bump stops not sure why they were not installed. I should have just done the kit myself. It’s been a nightmare since I picked it up!

 

If you did bottom out hard, it might bend the shock and shorten it so your CV angle wouldn't be so bad

What lift is this, the perch on that shock looks very high.

I’m having same issue. Well local 4x4 shop is footing the bill. I’ve broke 5 now. Did you ever get the issue resolved. Same lift, same struts, and shock upgrades. Local shop is in talks with RC but everyone is just scratching their heads at this point. Please email me so we can talk. Capt754@gmail.com.

Those angles in that picture look really steep. Maybe the RC shocks are allowing it to droop down too far

also- what is breaking, the inner joint? Maybe the rc lift doesn’t locate the diff correct side to side sometimes?

 

Maybe the LCA alignment cam bolts were torqued super tight with the truck off the ground basically binding the bushings. Those should only be torqued with the truck on the ground.

 

OK has anyone figured anything out on this I bought a 2014 and am having the same exact issue. My lift is a 6 inch pro comp 3 cv axles divers side in 3 months. my 4x4 guys are looking into it now but they are scratching there heads as to why its happening.

 

Which part is breaking, inner joint?

 

mine is shearing at the top near where it enters.

 

this morning i was able to pull the upper part completly out spline and all and then rest the bottom part on the lower arm and limp it in to the 4x4 shop.

 

I'm running 7.5" and here is my CV angle. Still on OEMs.

 

sounds like the new wheel hub is too far from the diff if it is pulling on the inner joint? Maybe the manufacturing tolerance of the knuckle/drop bracket is not to oem dimensions?
