Hi, new to the forum. Has anyone here try installing an aftermarket keyless entry to their Tundra SR model (no key fob came with SR model). I did some probing with my test light that makes me think the door locks are positive triggered...can anyone confirm that? Also which 2 wires you tapped into for the lock and unlock function. If anyone has any info on this.. Thanks in advance.

The standard keyless entry should work off of the same wires which are highlighted in the guide by @erkme73 . OP may want to check out the passive keyless entry as well too though. It's pretty legit! I put a small video and more details in my build thread here.

Thank you both for your help. I will read the threads to get useful info. Would you happen to know if the 2020 tundras uses positive or negative triggered to unlock and lock the doors?

How did it go? Did you find a brand that works? If so what is it? I too have a 2020 SR without factory keyless and would like to have keyless/remote start. I have been told that Vipor offers one but with limited features.

Hi blackwaterfrog, I tried a generic aftermarket keyless entry system and that did not work. It looks like Toyota has created a complicated door lock system for the recent tundras. I was able to install a keyless entry system on a 2014 Tacoma by using a negative signal trigger to open and close the door locks. Apparently Toyota somehow change the door lock system. The 2020 tundras neither work with a negative or a positive trigger signal. If you find information on what works, please share. Sorry I don't have any good news for you.

Here is what I found. This company (Compustar) offers many options for remote start with keyless entry for Tundra. These work with or without factory fob. There are 3 websites for 2 affiliated companies. The compustar website has a dealer locator. The customer service folks are very knowledgeable. And they offer a plug and play harness that so it won't affect Toyota warranty.

Thanks blackwaterfrog. I will check them out for sure. I really like the idea of a plug and play harness (less chance of frying electronics due to installer's errors).

Intermittent wiper switch is a simple swap(10 minute job max). I am looking into compustar keyless entry and remote start.

Just did the intermittent wiper swap out. Easy fix. I can’t believe for the price of this truck they cheap out on a part that cost them a few dollars.

ok, so any good news or updates on adding keyless entry?
    Thx in advance Brian

I had a locksmith sell me the fob with the buttons. Programmed it and it works. No chirp sound. Just turn signals flash. I have a 2020 doubt about SR. Dealership wanted 400 for a key with buttons. Locksmith $150. Next up I’ll try adding the remote start kit from Amazon.

Just installed compustar firstech dc3 in my 2020 Sr which does not come with any factory remotes. Now I have 2-way remotes, remote start, and alarm. Easy to install, and tons of features that you can customize thru flashing of the control module. DC3 only comes with the control module. You have to buy separately TL5 wire harness, your choice of compustar remotes, and a weblink to flash the module. Hope this helps out the SR owners.

Did you have to also purchase any other accessories? I want to do the exact same thing but I am confused by their website. I have a barebones 2020 Tundra SR with manual key, no factory key fob. I'd like to have remote keyless entry and remote start if possible. Would you be willing to reply with the exact parts you ordered?

I'm also interested in gettng Remote Keyless Entry and Remote Start. 2020 dc, could you put links to your description or maybe be a bit more specific on the process? That would be great! Thanks

I have a 2020 SR with factory remotes. I did not even know it was an option anymore not to get them. I’m glad I got lucky because it didn’t even cross my mind to ask.

Same here...I would have been annoyed if it didn't come with it, and like you, I didn't even think to confirm.

However it would have given me an extra reason to buy the Compustar Remote Start kit that's on sale for $250 at Best Buy (install included).

Any one with an SR that has remote keyless entry able to remote start by pressing unlock on fob twice and holding on the third press?
