    Can you add custom pid's to the fussion app? Also if you buy the Tundra add on for the app what does it give you?

    Yes, custom pids can be added. The advanced pack is pretty extensive but unless you are really diagnosing and/or testing mods it may be excessive for typical needs.

    Below is a sample of what is visible to delve into but i have only tested a few things and only use a couple of the extended pids. It does have the atf degredation pid which is Toyota's atf fluid life calculation based on conditions.

    Thank you very much for the help. I going to purchase and give it a try. I do have the Torque app but I think this one will work better.

    do you know where your engine oil temperature reading is coming from? I am told Tundra does not have any oil temp sensor and ECU should not have any data either.
    Do you remember engine oil temperature readings after an hour or so of driving?

    Thanks

    Ok saw I did buy the Toyota enhancements for the 2019. Where do I apply it? I'm not seeing trans temps.

    It was pulling data when I was checking all the different pids for values and it seems to show a different value compared to trans temps when I am pulling a load. It is usually same or close to coolant temp except at startup. I dont know if it is an actual sensor from the oil but seems to be measuring something :)

    There is an estimated oil temp pid, maybe that’s what you are watching. Lots of stuff available through the obd port, LOL! Here are the enhanced obd fusion parameters for Toyota.

    Well I’ll report back ASAP. It’s gonna be 15 degrees here tomorrow... so no one is missing much. It’s going to take me a weekend and a coding course to get the app up and running. Lol It’ll be summer before it gets really interesting. I bring equipment back and forth to our hunting camp on a big trailer - will be maxed out and one hill in particular is a long pull. If it’s going to overheat around these parts... it’ll be on that hill. I will post my winter numbers once I get this working tho - the trailer I’m pulling is 6000# give or take a few hundred lbs.

    I didnt keep a log for oil but it has never been higher than the transmission pan temps anytime i have looked at it. I have logs of trans pan and torque converter temps. Highest torque converter temp was 222 and pan temp 208. That is what I have record of but I have seen torque converter temp spike to 230 on occasion when not logging. These logs are from October in south texas. I will get more logs this summer.

    @jtwags

    Quick question before I buy the app: once I have the code added to the torque app, will this work for both my 2017 and 2019? I’d like to just be able to swap out the scan tool back and forth if I can. If not, will I need another OBD-2 scanner? I will buy another if I have to, but I’d like to avoid that. Thx in advance.

    Funny you ask because RuggyBuggy and I were working through an issue he had when using with his 2020. The purchased pids were not showing up. He purchased the 2019 pids. When using the app you need to have the same year entered as the pid pack you purchased or it wont work. Check with RuggyBuggy to verify they are reading correctly when using a different year than your actual truck. I am also not sure if there was a change in pid programming between 2017 and 2019.

    @jtwags

    Hey - so I just bought the OBD Fusion app. It looks like I need to connect it to the Tundra to set up the dashboard? Do I have to purchase anything additional or will I be able to set up the dashboard like yours once it starts to communicate with the truck? My truck is sitting at work - going to go there tomorrow to set this up and just want to be sure I have everything downloaded. Thx again for the help.

    Should be able to setup even when not connected to truck. You can do some pretty cool things with the dashboard. Over on the tacoma forum they have created some great looking dashboards and other pids i havent tried yet from the advanced pids.

    I had a chance to play with today and almost every pid in the purchased Toyota enhancements didn't work. I was able to do a custom pid for the trans pan temps that work but haven't found one for the converter temps that worked. The trans temp in the enhancement did give a reading but it didn't make any sense.

    Installed the cooler today. For those interested, I will be selling the cooler bracket, hardware, and horn relocation bracket just like the photos for 150$. I am going to do the ATF fill and check tomorrow and go on a test drive. I will be doing a full write up on how to install in the next couple days.

    Well, that is no bueno. I think it is safe to say the pid pack needs to match the year of the vehicle as there seem to be differences between some years in the way pids are mapped.

    My understanding was the 2019 and 2020 are using the same modules so I would have expected it to work. Somebody with a 2019 has to give the app a try and see if the enhancement package will work.

    If your interested in the Hayden 778 I can make a bracket for that as well. I will just need 3 people interested in order to have it designed and CNC.

    I can confirm that OBDLink MX+ works for my 2019 Trans pan and toque converter temps as well as engine oil and coolant temps. The advanced Toyota PIDs are free will the MX+,the app actually looks exactly the same as the OBD Fusion app.

    OK. That’ll be me then. I have my 2017 up and running just fine with the Fusion app. I’m not a tech guy lol but I’ll take a ride over to my shop later and play around with the 2019 and can at least tell you guys if it behaves the same and is as easy to set up as my 2017. Maybe I’ll start a new thread for this... hate to hijack this thread. Here’s my 2017 dashboard (I assumed trans temp 1 pid output was pan and trans temp 2 pid output was torque converter... might be wrong). BTW in just driving around this AM with my 2017 (empty no trailer) the trans temp ranged from 170- 190 and the coolant temp ranged from 180-185.

    Yeah I'm still not sure what I want is the thing. I do tow a 6500lb 5th wheel through mountains in the summer so there is that, just want to make sure I go big enough.
