I was looking to change my head unit and eventually speakers and factory amp. My question is should I bypass the amp for now and power just off the head unit or leave in place until I change the amp. Thanks Mike

I would just leave the amp hooked up until you get the new one and speakers. The stock radio only powers the dash speakers and the amp does the doors. You might have some issues trying to power the dash speakers and and the door speaker without the amp. I got a Tesla unit and had the stock speakers and amp and the sound is way better, just finished my ********* 4ch and mono amp install.

I would keep the stock amp hooked up. The rear door speakers in my 2016 CM were 35w @ 2ohms not sure of the fronts. The sound quality might be hindered if you bypass the amp. Like I said, the stock headunit sucks for sound, upgrading to an aftermarket will be an improvement.
These are the output specs for the alpine.
    • Built-in internal amp: 18 watts RMS CTA-2006 (50 peak) x 4 channels

Yep, like @bsavoir said, keep the amp in place until you replace the speakers. At that point, you can either bypass the amp with the ********* or similar harness or go with an aftermarket amp if your speakers could use the extra power. I put JBL components at all 4 corners and just bypassed the amp. My Pioneer has more than enough power to push those, so I'm good. Your mileage may vary depending on how much of an audiophile you are. Either way, dumping the stock head unit nets some major audio quality improvement.

I've been thinking about switching out to the T style too. My only issue is that I'm not finding anything that has built in SiriusXM.
