    Installed the 5160 setup today. Love it. I figured I’d pass this install tip on. Worked for me.
    The first shock I cut the black assembly band and the shock extend. This made lining up the lower bolt more difficult than it needed to be.
    So,
    On the driver side. I installed the reservoir clamp with band on, removed the band from the top section. Put the top in, lined up and installed the lower bolt and then slightly lossened the reservoir clamp and it all worked perfect. No fuss. Hope this makes sense. Here’s a pic of the band still on.

    Awesome advise!
    Came in handy when I installed my 5160s this past weekend. The passenger side got me as I didnt tightened down the clamp enough and had to muscle:curls: the shock to get the lower bolt in...but drivers side went in like a breeze.

    :thumbsup::thumbsup:

    Are the 5160s designed for a lift or for stock ride height?

    Ive been looking at the 5165s for my readylift, but have been told they wont work... i Just want a damn bilstein that with a reservoir.................

    5160s support 0-1.5" lift. I use them to support the toytec shackles on the middle setting for leveled look.

    Did those anodized reservoir clamps come with your shocks?

    They didn’t. Picked them up on Amazon. Here’s a pic of the listing. Working great so far. I probably over did it but I put two clamps on each resi.

    Thanks! They look great. I just ordered a set and was wondering how I was going to keep the reservoirs tied down.

    I know this is an older post but Thanks for sharing. That worked perfectly for my install of the 5160’s today. I did have a question though, I think the upper shock mount bolt is 21ft pounds, I have a crows foot wrench set so I’m able to get my torque wrench in there but every time I go to torque it down the shock starts to turn and there’s not a flat area on the stud to vice grip to. Any tips on getting it torqued?
