Can't figure out what this is, the wires sneak under the dash. This weekend I'll go exploring but wanted to see if anyone has installed this, looks aftermarket.

I pressed it the other day and held it down to see what it would do. Now my truck chirps three quick times on the horn when I start it.

Maybe something to do with an aftermarket alarm?

It could be a valet setting option for an aftermarket alarm. My wife has something like that on her journey, it's part of the Lojack system that was installed. Did you have the alarm installed? I would try to find a manufacturer for it and get the manual.

Yeah, I think it's some sort of aftermarket GPS thing. It was bugging me after I posted this so I went out and snapped these pics. I'll cut the zip tie and look for a brand name after I get home tonight. I don't have any zip ties with me.

I don't think its alarm related, the truck has factory alarm. I also realized the reason it was chirping was because I must have accidentally unplugged the button on the dash. I plugged it back in and the chirping stopped when I went to start it.

Don't press the button! Remember what happened in The Fifth Element when they pushed the little red button?

It looks like an alarm sensitivity dial? Maybe the glass breakage sensor or something?

I'm thinking more and more its a GPS broadcast strength adjustment. The dealer initially guessed it was a glass break sensor, but I checked Chilton and the truck already has glass break microphones in the truck. Plus I don't see any microphones on this device.

If it is a GPS it should be in a better location, it wont get a very good signal under all that plastic and steel. It looks like it can adjust the sensitivity or maybe the volume due to the Min/Max. You can trace the wires and see where it connects to or at least figure out what wires they connect to.

That was my first guess, pressed the button at 88 mpg.. nothing. Also tried it at 188 mph... nothing again except a brown stain in my underpants.

That was my guess. Maybe PO needed to adjust sensitivity so he added an aftermarket one to factory alarm somehow?

Exactly what it is, I have the same thing in mine, different brand name though.
Its an "addon" to the factory alarm
