Looking to add remote start to my 2018 SR with key start. Any advise on a good setup? Mine has the “H” key.

    I have this:
    https://smile.amazon.com/Start-X-Re...x+remote+starter+tundra&qid=1572913502&sr=8-1

Along with this ($105 is a good deal, it won't last long):

    https://smile.amazon.com/Audiovox-A...f=sr_1_1?keywords=ascl6&qid=1572913543&sr=8-1

The remote start is a Fortin Evo One. A lot of guys here use it.
The telematics module is called an ASCLR Car Link, or My Car.

It's a cell module for the remote start. It's not necessary, but it allows me to start my truck with an app on my phone, and track it via GPS.

I got the one from 12voltsolutions.com for 19, and Inatalled it myself. Worked with my stock H key from about 300ft away.

12V SOLUTIONS. INSTALLED ONE OF THESE IN MY 2018 LIMITED. PLUG & PLAY, AND EASY TO PROGRAM. I AM NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED, SO IT TOOK ME ABOUT 3 HRS.

Ended up going with Viper with the phone app. Thanks for everyone’s input.

I am very mechanically inclined and it took me 5 hours. At least one of those was spent trying to unplug ONE plug because i'm an idiot.

I could do the whole thing again in less than an hour, including the one wire I had to splice. Everything tends to take me three times as long as it should.

Disconnect the batt ... its very simple .. route your wires neatly away from any moving parts ..

    You need this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H9FLDCD/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_QULBFb987RHHK

Keep it on your watch list, or call around to local shops. I paid 80 for mine from a local shop, and I've seen the prices as low as $90 on Amazon.

EDIT: You still won't be able to use the Toyota app, but Carlink has its own.

There's a point where you unplug one of the harness plugs up high and to the left. the release is a flimsy little thing. I pulled on that stupid plug and used a screwdriver and all, and never noticed the little flap. came right out once i found it....an hour later.

and check the Tmobile coverage map to make sure you have service. if you don't, it wont work from the phone if you got the phone module.

Question with the remote start, can it setup to where the AC would be blasting? Or I'll have to turn all that on before I shut the car prior?

You need to blast it before you turn the vehicle off (auto climate control). Manual control it doesn't matter when you crank it up, but it needs to be manually set. There's no way to wire it do it automatically.

Not sure tech 12 volt sells a different Carlink, but mine uses AT&T 4G LTE

I bought mine in August of 2019. My phone is ATT, but the carlink module itself runs off the T-Mobile network. I didn't even know that initially. So my connection to the module was sketchy from inside the house sometimes, and now it's non-existent. I emailed the manufacturer and they told me about T-mobile and that coverage in my area was listed as "fair" in the T-mobile network, and they can't help me beyond that. I can go a couple miles from the house and it works fine. Luckily, I'm within keyfob range at home anyway.

I just installed the 12 volt solutions 100% plug and play kit in my H key 2018 Crewmax. It works great but i forgot about the auto lights.. so here i go back out to the driveway.

For the OP. If you go with the 12 volt solutions, Don't follow the video for the 2018 that has you take the knee area airbag off. You don't need to.

Oh man that sucks. Hopefully, you were able to get the wire cutters on there without dismantling everything. I did my install today and it went very smoothly. I admit that I am not the most confident with electronics, but I had no trouble. Working like a charm.

Yup, it was easy. That kit sure is pretty great. I got mine for $50 off too. It works better than the "pro" installed one we have in the Minivan.
