Got my base tunes yesterday evening! Now the long 2 week wait of being stuck at work until I can try it out

 

Now that's a real bummer!

 

I have a 2018 Tundra and I just received stock and base 87 and 91 gearlock. Any guidance on which one has worked best for y’all? Can more than one be installed?

 

Do these updates include your upgrade to gl being tied to S mode?

 

Go fill up on 93 or better and put the 91 tune in. You wont be disappointed.

 

How does gearlock work?

 

Put the shifter into S mode and turn on tow/haul. Works about the same as before, but it really tries to hold the gear you are commanding. It will only downshift if necessary to keep the engine from stalling or if there is too much knock from what I understand. Pretty sure it will also let you bang it off the rev limiter if you dont command an upshift. It is worth noting that you MUST use Sport shift mode with tow/haul. Tow/haul mode wont shift correctly on its own.

 

I received 87 and 93 tunes, and Mat recommended logs. Will I need to do logs for both? I'll mainly be running 87, but may use the 93 on occasion.

Has anyone downloaded the p5flash 1.2.2? The download is redirecting to a different site. It’s throwing all kinds of virus alerts. The other files from the site don't throw virus alerts.

 

Is that something new?

 

Not sure if it’s new or not. I just know that my virus program does not like page the download is on. The flash files are on a similar page, but the p5flash.exe download is red flagging @OVTune

 

Yeesh... I turned my antivirus off when I downloaded the programs. Not sure if it mattered or not. But I only use my laptop for this program and techstream.

 

i opened the P5Flash thru the Toyota Flash manager, under the tab: Tuning

 

Random thoughts:

When development reaches the stage where we will be able to have several maps loaded on the ECUs and available on the fly, I was pondering about how to keep track of which one is enabled. The numerical LCD that comes on when in S-Mode. One idea might be that a daily-driver map could be indicated as '0', the next map that you might have elected to be in the queue would naturally be '1' and so on. I find it difficult to imagine, at this stage, that there could/would be greater than 10 maps that a user would find useful or necessary to have loaded up. What order your maps are in may be something that the user could manipulate, might be a custom feature compiled by OVTune, or set up as having a default order of some determination. When the map is changed (rumored to be via the Cruise Control switch) that respective map's "number" might flash in the display at a rate of 2-3 times per second for 5-6 seconds, then go blank or back to whatever function it was serving prior to the user making changes.

 

Man, it just boggles my mind on how much potential this tune has on specific user settings it does get complex for an average mind like mine

Annoying as hell for me as 80-90% of the time my truck gets started it is towing and/or hauling something. Forces me to either tow stuff in regular drive mode or pretend like Im driving a stick all day Waiting for a revision and fix from Matt still. Dont get me wrong, I like the gear lock feature when I want to use it. However 99% of the time I just want to hook up my load select tow/haul and go. Hopefully he gets it sorted for me soon, otherwise I will be dropping the gear lock feature.

 

Something about this doesn't sound right. T/H should work as from the factory when used alone. If GL is desired, T/H and S-Mode must be used at the same time with a GL enabled tune. Of course, this is planned to change when the tunes are "officially" released. Things are technically still in the development stage at present.

 

The tow button will lock gears in D and S right now. The only "towing mode" right now is S mode. Mat did say he was planning to make the tow button function like it was intended, eventually.

 

How does it lock into a gear in D, what's it's behavior? This is not how I understood it was working. (Disclosure: I don't currently have a GL tune.)
