EDIT: LOL, I promise I wasn't being a smartass here. I think I was thinking of the vanity lights when I wrote this.

They just pop right in. If they don't turn on when you tap them to the leads then flip them over. Make sure the LED's are facing out of course.

If it's not turning on then start your truck to reset the light timer.

OK, I can use some help. while changing the bulb to LED I pushed up to hard and now the two prong socket is spread apart and up. I am guessing I need to take the whole console down? This suck, so far not impressed with the FyreFlys LED bulbs.

I think I just did the exact same thing, also with FyreFlys LEDs. Did you figure this out?

deepblu89 I followed the video in the this tread and took the map lite console down. you can see where the copper gets dislodged from the mounting pin. I pushed it back on the pin then inserted the LED bulb. You should test it before going through the reassembly process. Getting the reflectors in place was not an easy task either. Hope this helps.

That socket is so cheesy and easy to dislodge, its a joke...

yes it is... I managed to pull it back into place with a Leatherman well enough for it to work. It isn't normal but until I feel like performing major surgery on it, it'll do...

The previous owner had a bad LED bulb that I tried to change out. The prongs were bent all out of shape and I dislodged the socket while trying to get them shaped right... looped a piece of wire around one side to hold the prong in place, got the bulb to fit what felt like normal and got a few flickers. Still not working. Any tips on what i should do next?

Your guess is as good as mine with this stuff. I fought with it with the pliers on a Leatherman and was able to get mine into position well enough that everything works. If I manually press the lens cover to turn the light on and off it flickers so I know I don't have it completely right. It works well enough when I open and close the door though. If yours is too far gone to be rigged in place it might mean needing to have to buy replacement parts.

Sockets are flimsy. Only way to fix it right is to drop the overhead. Not difficult but a PITA. Even then, same thing might happen if you have to replace the bulbs again.

I experienced this same thing. What I did was pull console down and glued housing back to console. Put some electrical tape on that as insurance. Then compared prongs to other side and bent them back to what looked normal. It’s hard to explain but once you take console down it will make more sense.. those tabs are so cheap. Good luck it’s a common issue. There should be more threads on it just search around. But best advise is to take console off and look on backside

Same thing happened to me....I pulled it out just enough for it to engage and start working but I'm afraid as I travel bumpy dirt roads, it's going to stop working or flicker like crazy.....Very annoying
Also, I did not reinstall the reflector panels, I just left them off....

OK, this is getting frustrating.....my lights keeps flickering if it comes on at all.....Is there not some kind of Electrical conducive "SHIM" we could add to fatten up the male connector and maintain the electrical connection?
