My wiper cowl is faded. Should I Solution Finish first then this, or just this or just Solution Finish?

 

Now that my truck is lifted what are you all useing to put on the lift components to help keep them clean and free of rust?

 

I’d go with Solution Finish unless you already have Dlux. I know for certain it does a great job, and have yet to try the DLux. I’m guessing the Dlux is more about prevention than cure.

I think this is the way to go. Use the solutions finish to get it back to black, then after a few days or a week, use DLux to protect your new finish and prevent future damage. I would imagine putting a coating on top of faded gray trim will result in coated faded gray trim. However some have said they had good results as far as getting trim black again with gtechiq permanent trim restorer, which I think is similar to DLux. Personally I would want it turned back to black before I sealed it

 

What’s the best way to get get semi-deep scratches out of headlight??

 

Unfortunately I think you just have to replace the headlamp. Surface scratches, discoloration and build up can usually be removed, but deep scratches I think you are hosed. Unless others have been able to???

 

Maybe wet sanding and blending the sanding marks, then polish the marks out. But deep can mean a wide range of things. You may need new lights if the damage is too deep

@War Machine you don't spray WD40 or anything on the ball joins or anything to keep from getting rust? My UCA ball joints are already getting a little rust and its been like a week lol

 

Anyone know how good the sprayer is? Is it an iK sprayer?

 

It has never even crossed my mind to be honest. I’ve never known anyone to do anything like that until I joined here.

 

Looking for a good recommendation on fixing a long scratch all the way down the side of my truck from a bush.

 

Got any pictures? This will be very helpful.
How deep is it? If you run your fingernail across it, does it catch? Is it just the clear coat or is there paint involved?
The recommendations could range from layering touch up paint and wet sanding to a simple polishing.

 

I so pisssd off today. 2 beautiful days this weekend for getting yardwork and detaling done. I have been sick in bed since Saturday morning with some kinda of stomach bug
I havent been sick in years even though I work in the ER. I have so much I want to get done, detailing and swapping shocks. Will have to wait til I feel better, this sucks, losing 2 great work days.

 

That sucks Sean. That’s how I’ve been with my back lately. We’ve had really good detailing weather, but I just haven’t been able to do much. Worst part about back pain is that it’s hard to do anything, but sitting around makes it worse.

 

Need more advice/direction:

I have a Torqx Random Orbital Polisher and was looking to get a couple wool pads for it.
What do you all recommend?

I like the buff and shine uro wool, and carpro foamed wool. Also lake country makes great pads so I would check them out too.

 

First thing to do is give it 'the fingernail test'....see if your fingernail catches in it...if it does, you may be at the repaint stage. Pics would be helpful if it will show up

What do you guys recommend for taking car of the paint issue in the below picture? Any idea what happened here?

 

Looks like the clear coat is oxidized. You should be able to improve it through Iron remover, clay, and polishing, but not sure how much. I’d honestly like to try it myself and see. Sometimes it’s too bad and there’s nothing to do but respray it. I do think it can be at least improved, if not fixed.

 

Agreed....looks like oxidization (<---is that a word?) to me too. Perform a test spot in an inconspicuous area with a light polish or even a cleaner wax to see...after wash and decon of course....I'd like to have a shot at that one as well

It can be improved for sure. but Im afraid some areas will require heavy cutting, if possible have a paint gauge handy.
The appearance Can definitely be improved.

 

Any idea how much of the Iron Remover I'd go through for a job like this? Curious what size bottle/jug to order. Also, any recommended brands? Thanks again for the assistance.

 

It is a big vehicle and probably very neglected, so I would get the 1 Ltr bottle of ironx to be safe. Keep in mind that it is a dark color so it will be hard to tell if the product is working.
