DId the 5.7 badges yesterday. I prepped by spraying Jay Leno quick detailer around it, then used 50wt braided fishing line. Kept pressure towards me (and the badge) so as to not rub the line against the paint. That left the square 3m tape on the car. I soaked it again with the quick detailer..then using a small thing called a "lil chisler" (off Amazon) I worked the adhesive off the car..using downward strokes and it came off surprisingly easy!! after that I used a very small amount of good gone, then meguiars cleaning solution, then the quick detailer. Came out great..the braided line works great!!!

Thank you! It just has a 2.5" leveling kit on it, rear is stock.

Debadged my limited a few months back. Took every emblem off including large TRD sticker on truck bed. Only thing i left is the “limited” badges but i bought black covers for them. I’m thinking about leveling next but need some recommendations on height, companies, etc.

Your truck looks great. There are so many leveling kits out there but two things that I was looking for was metal spacers and a kit that came with the differential drop spacers to keep everything aligned. Not really sure if metal is significantly better than polymer type...I just figured it could crack or might breakdown over time so went with metal. I don't do anything too serious off road and it's worked out great for me, if you plan to off road a lot you might want to consider adjustable shocks instead of spacers, just my 2 cents.

    You have a picture?
Also, what company leveling kit did you end up going with?
    Thanks

Just to add onto this Kite string works great and will break less on you. About 30 seconds on the small badges, 60 seconds on the larger ones with a heat gun don't keep the heat focused move it constantly to not over heat any spot. To remove the left over tape reheat for 10 seconds and it will roll off. Lastly to get the residue off Turtlewas bug and tar works great

Ever seen anything like this after debadging? Rub my hand over and it feels smooth. Not sure what caused it or how to get rid of it. Only did it with the V8 emblem and only noticeable in direct sunlight at certain angles.

Not sure, but another thing about taking off badges if you wait to long the pigment change will stand out especially with black.

Looks like it got too hot and burned the clear coat? Did you use a hair-dryer or heat gun before removal?

That's it for de-badging for me. I was hoping to get them all done but don't have the go ahead. Oh well, I got a few off.

    What a shame.

Maybe I'll pressure washer them off by accident in the spring.

"See, I told you we should have taken them off."

If you just want want to level, look at Bilstein 5100s. Where in the 757 are you?

I'm in Chesapeake. My SIL is a mechanic. I can ask if he wants to install. I had him do my front because spring compressors scare me. I'm sure you'll get a thousand recommendations on parts. For me, I wanted to clear wider tires for beach driving. 5100s worked fine. Maybe do a search on here or start a new thread with the question.

Hmmm. I wouldn’t think that would be enough to burn the clear. Post something on the detailing sub-forum. They might have a better idea.

Exactly why I need to get our 2nd vehicle purchase going sooner, rather than later.

Once she's in a new vehicle too, we'll all he happy and I'm sure I'd have some more leeway. As it stand now, she's in an 08 Escape. She will probably end up in a Rav4 or if I have any say, a 4Runner. The 4Runner would probably be both our choice, it'll come down to funds.

I'm not giving up yet though

This thread encouraged me to get going on some good ‘ole debadgin. Got rid of my chrome Limited badges. It was already pretty sacrilegious that I put on the Tundra and V8 black badge overlays last week, leaving the Limited as the only chrome outcast since Toyota didn’t make a black overlay for that one. Process went smooth. Used the wifeys hair dryer, some waxed dental floss, and Goof Off. Only complaint was the floss kept breaking, so I had to take it easy with the sawing. Didn’t have any fishing line; imagine that would work much better. Oh well, still got the job done. Thanks for all the advice!

Are you handy at all? I put on fat Bob garage vated 3" adjustable coilover lift a few months ago. Me and two buddies did it in about an hour. Just needed a few wrenches, sockets and floor jacks. No spring compressor or anything required. Just pull the old shock and coil out and place in the new coilover. The kit does come with a diff drop, I didn't install cause I only lifted 2". Price shipped to me was under $500, best price you can find for adjustable coilovers.

Hah! Maybe I just got lucky but as long as I keep the wife’s car clean and good working order, I get to make all the decisions in the garage. Almost married 10 years with 3 kids.
