47A6E396-A389-49D7-BF20-F27B9C3D14BC.jpg Idk if this helps, but I installed puddle lights that turn on/off under these conditions:

I unlock the truck with the key fob: lights ON.

I lock the truck with key fob: lights OFF

I stop the truck, pull the key and open the door: lights ON

I turn the cargo light switch on: lights ON

I turn the cargo light switch off: lights OFF

I tapped a small pink wire in the driver side rocker panel, under the plastic door jamb trim. Obviously that’s the cargo light circuit.

It’s the blue one. The pic didn’t come out very good though.

Since (after whining like a little byotch about not being able to get power) I finally have power wherever I want it, I decided to keep going. Today I did bed lights.

With some help from @phabej I was able to get mine hooked up first try.

    IMG_20190707_205322.jpg

I ran my power through the hole in the driver panel near the back. There is a rubber grommet that I drilled a little hole I'm for the power cable. For my 19 it was the biggest pink wire with no stripes on it.

    IMG_20190705_174734.jpg

I grounded each set of LED strips on each side and ran everything through wire loom.

I grounded the LED's by using the bolts that attach my side steps to my truck. I'll try to get a pic shot tonight, but I wont be home for a while. If you message me in about 4-5 hours it will jog my memory.

Damn, Ron, I believe you started a puddle light revolution. What a great thread, very helpful wiring info. Got me really thinkin about the possibilities....

Finely done it! Feel free to criticize the long larger then life running boards. Wired it to cargo light and blinkers.

Dude that is an awesome job. I wanted to do something similar but with spaced amber lights. But you totally provided the blue prints. Nice !

I have a 2015 limited. i am about to do the same thing you show here. seems like a mix up between people saying its a brown wire or a grey/purple wire small 22 24 gauge. going to positap it ill know as soon as i do. what im concerned with is the amount of amps / watts its going to strain on the cargo light circuit. narrowed it down to 2.5 amp/30 watts total draw coming from 2 60 inch led strips i plan to use. think that cargo light will withstand that draw? ive read it can handle 7.5 amps which doesn't make sense to that gauge wire. you get so many different answers on these threads you seem like you know your stuff so i am asking you directly

Its a dark grey almost black wire which has a purple tint to it. 18 gauge. The pics make everything look larger but i got it on my first shot. Thanks man im wondering how long that adhesive will last.
