Want more power from 2006 vvti 4.7L v8

Anybody run the URD 170°F thermostat?

Thinking about buying one along with the DDI 270cc injectors

 

I wouldn’t run the thermostat unless you’re boosted.

 

Got it. Thanks. Now I just gotta figure out if there's a way I can run long tubes on my truck in an emissions county. I think I just need an o2 simulator.

Anyone know what exhaust setup would give me the most power , i know i want duals but idk if i want an H- Pipe, Or X- Pipe. Can someone help?? Im doing a cat-back exhaust setup and i dont want to put any mufflers

Personally I want headers and his full race exhaust with cats. But I have a ton of questions first.

This truck is a 4.7 not the 5.7, in case anyone didn't watch the video.

 

Dude went 1m miles on 2 water pumps... Doesn't mention timing belts. Either way that's insane.

 

Those air seats aren't all they're cracked up to be imho. Plus the semi has such stiff suspension. I mean I've never driven a semi but I climb in and out of em all the time.at work. And I've driven plenty of different size box trucks. The slightest crack in the road will go up your spine.

 

So headers. Injectors. That’s pretty much it for easy bolt on power yes?

URD has a stage 3 supercharger with inter cooler kit for the vvti 4.7 4runner and gx470 that could probably be modified to fit our trucks. Supposedly they're working on the kit for our tundra.

They do really make a massive difference when running larger tires for sure

Your telling me. I was trying to help in another thread and they did the same thing. Tundra Envy? LOL Haters gonna hate! Funny both post asked how can we get more power but both posts also swear by the smaller engine and both OP's dont want shitter gas mileage. Where is this magical MOD that gives you power, gas mileage, is very cheap, and does not affect reliability?

True. What I should have said was upgraded intake tube on stock air box or a "true" CAI kit. Not sure if any of those two options exist for our trucks. I had the Airaid modular intake tube on my 99 taco and stock air box. Then the aFe pro dry S intake kit on my 03 taco. Both sounded great. I didn't have a scan gauge when I had the 99 to read the intake temps but I did on the 03 and I do on my tundra. The stock air box definately keeps the temp down better when stopped.and city driving by about 10°F maybe more. But at high ways speeds the intake temps are almost the same if not the same. However the CAI kits tend to be stupid expensive. Like $200-400 vs maybe $100 for the tube and a new filter.

Airaid makes a tube for these trucks. K&ns cold air also reuses the factory air box. Personally I’ll run the airaid just because I like the sound. Have one on my taco too. Don’t expect gains. I may look into knife edging the throttle and boring it slightly

I've swapped hydraulic fans to electric fans on several Lexus V8 to make rooms for turbo and superchargers. Before putting the turbo/superchargers on, I didn't see any improved performance. Electric fans are complicated to set up correctly and they're unreliable. And without the fan shroud, the coolant gets hot. Basically, electric fans swap is the last thing to do.

 

Just as a FYI, I saw there was some previous chatter about tuning support (and the lack thereof back in 2019).
