Need an OBD2 reader

Good morning, just purchased a 2012 Toyota Tundra and would like feedback on a modestly priced OBD2 reader. Any feedback would be appreciated.

 

Torque Pro app running on an Android phone.

For a connection: Any ELM-327 bluetooth dongle on Amazon... like

If you don't have an Android phone, buy an old used one on Craigslist.

What are you looking to do with the obd2 reader? I have torque pro and while it is great, it doesn't read all Toyota codes and doesn't have all the Toyota specific PIDs for real time information.

 

What pids are you wanting? I haven't gotten much past the trans temp, but that one seems to work well.

Transmission temp is one. Ability to see tire pressure would be nice too. A few of the Germans have apps that have ability to code and perform service. It would be nice if there was a mobile version of techstream

 

Bringing this one back from the dead--did you guys ever figure out if the trans temp PID was reading from the pan, or from the torque converter? Or is that only for 05-06?

 

With how cool mine stays I think it's the pan. I still need to get a laser temp gauge and check to see how the temperature on the torque app correlates to temperature at the cooler lines and pan surface.
