Tire placement is key. Got hung up once. And it was my fault. Didn't wait for my spotter. Step bar took the hit.

I have nothing else to compare this suspension to. But to do a red trail in Moab with the wife, and her not getting sick, I say this set up is doing good.

So I got all my parts installed and I gotta say it looks so beast. I didn't have time to get proper photos and I fly out in the morning to get married on Friday so I will take some when I return. Until then here is a decent rear end shot I was able to get before I lost light. And again this is my mod list.....

is anyone running a diff drop bracket with their 6112's? to help with the CV angle and to prevent premature wear on the CV boot?

I'm seeing the uniball 1.50" ones and the balljoint upper. Whats the difference? My build is almost the same as yours minus the diff drop (Haven't gotten one).

    I did Uniball.
    696CA478-69F3-4627-907B-D7AD484931EA.jpg

Uni balls are way stronger and generally allow for more range of motion with misalignment spacers....

The downside of uni balls is that they are much more susceptible to corrosion and dirt since they are not sealed. There are covers for the top.. but you will still get significant exposure on the bottom and the cover may make things worse overall. Someone else can add to this or correct me if I am wrong but this is what I found when researching to buy mine

Had the 6112/5160 complete Bossed out kit installed and while driving home, I fish tailed a couple times on turns.:notsure: Roads were wet from light rain and I’m on 20” wheels with KO2s. Will definitely need some significant weight back there during the winter. :benchpress:

Don't waste your money and time on a small diff drop spacer kit. It is 100% NOT needed. If you needed the small cheap spacers and bolts, Bilstein, FOX, King & Icon would all supply them with their coilovers since they are already supplying needed mounting hardware, etc. We have never ran them on any Tundra we've owned or raced and have CV's with over a 100k miles on them with no issues. Save the $30-40 and put it towards your next trip.

The real reason a diff spacer came about years ago was because some shops were installing coilovers with 2-3" of lift and also running a 2-3" spacer so everything was pinned at max height and they wanted to relax the CV boot angles. The axles weren't the problem the fact that they were trying to lift the front end way too high by stacking kits was. Plus since it's cheap no one questions if and why they need it.

I’m running 6112 top setting with .5” coachbuilder shim on top with 3.5” “total” lift. I do have diff drop in. So with that much lift I do not need diff drop? Is this correct? I will take it out if I do not need it.

Leave it in since you added .5" CB spacer. For 2" lift or below, diff drop is not required. I still recommend diff drop for 6112 top setting cause it will lift the front by about 2.5". Mine is the same top setting as yours but with 1/4" CB spacer for 3" total front lift, and I do run diff drop.

It's been said many times before that the diff drop really just pivots the diff and starves your front pinion bearing of oil. It does very little to relieve CV axle angles.

Hey Scott I have heard this before as well. How much lift can you go in the front and be in the safe range? 3.5"? 4? Curious since I saw icon sells coilovers that go up too 3.5" of lift?

Interested in this too. I should be around 3" total with CB shims, shackles and Bilsteins once said and done.

In the 12 years that the Tundra has been out not once have we ever installed a diff drop on any install we do, trucks we've owned and daily drive or the Tundra we raced the Baja 1000 and many other races with. That race truck is still being used today. All with NO diff drops and NO driveline issues. We've installed Bilstein, FOX, King, ICON, etc. Non-long-travel, long-travel, etc etc etc.....

If it's already installed I guess leave it, but since we've never done one, I don't know what issues you could have with having it installed. All my experience is based on NOT having it.

The "diff drop" discussion for Tundra's and Tacoma's has been one of those that just comes up year after year ... and year after year we NEVER install them and NEVER have problems lol.

Good to know. Because I always wondered if a diff drop would cause any problems with fluids since it tilts the differential forward.

What is the typical amount of lift you guys use and haven't seen problems?

As faras the diff drop... the differentials are splashlubed, no forced piling system, the ring gear throws oil everywhere in there, a diff dropwon’t matter at all.

FWIW, I came from having a built Land Cruiser. 2000 100 series. First of the IFS LC's. Anything more than about 2-2.5" lift in front, and the diff drop bracket was needed, otherwise, you'd go thru CV boots every 3-6 months depending on your driving. Thus, the reason for the question here. Thanks for all the info. Since I'm not planning on going more than 2-2.5", I'll probably skip it. If I end up with CV issues too early, I'll install it then...along with new CV boots....

Keep it simple...2019 TRD Sport. Suspension below and I really like the setup as a daily driver.

-5160 no lift in the rear
