Can i use this to route a drain hose under tonneau? I feel like i've seen a thread where someone did, but i'm not sure what this hole is for, and dont want to send water where it shouldn't go. I do like the idea of keeping the drain hose discrete and out of the way vs. not all the way to the bottom of the bed, through the plastic factory caps....

The rubber knock outs on the bottom corner are there for that purpose. I wouldn’t drain it into a metal compartmented are

i was under the impression that those were there for manufacturing purposes - like access to mounting bolts or something like that. Mine have been rhino-lined over, and i'd prefer not to drill through it if the circled location is acceptable.

No. There’s nothing behind those haha. They are just rubber caps. It’s an empty gap between the cab and the bed. You can cut through it with a razor and slide the drain through. Don’t go drilling into the truck when there’s a paper thin piece of rubber meant for this purpose right next to it.

Same. No need to reinvent the wheel here.

Thanks, all, may just do that, but back to my original question - what is the purpose of the circled hole in my OP?

Though its an old post that came up during my search for answer, when my tonneau is open & it rains, i see puddle in the bed means no drain hole on the bed, So today went & drilled a 5/8in of hole in the front right corner & all was drained. NOW it stays dry. So for those who may have leaks thru the tonneau the water can collect under the plastic liner causing rust...just a caution .

Those are called stake pockets. If you were to trim back the plastic rail caps, a "stake" can be inserted into that pocket, and the access hole used to secure it with a lag bolt.
