What do you mean by tune up? Have all the regular scheduled maintenance items been done?
I just hit 40k and decided to change the front and rear differential and transfer case oil along with oil change and tire rotation.
If you are due for maintenance then my all means maintain.

The front isn't done yet, I hope to do it tomorrow, the Tcase and rear I did a few days ago. T case was pretty clean, not brand new looking oil clean but pretty clean. I replaced with Ravenol 75w, for $35 and 15 minutes it's worth it. I don't use 4wd very often, maybe a few times per month in winter and whenever I remember to run 4x4 for a few miles in the warmer months.
The rear, as you know was nasty, black, stunk badly and the magnetic plug was gunked up.

If you live somewhere salty(do they salt roads up there in Minnesota?) , maybe just bust the plugs loose and clean up and lube the threads.
