Am I the only one that thinks the new JBL system isn’t that great?

It sounds pretty decent but it’s not loud at all.

I can turn it to max volume and it’s still not too loud for my liking.

I’ve never had a radio previously where I can max it out comfortably.

Anyone out there upgrade their system?

What did you do and how did it change it?

I went the ********* route. Tech12Volts is recommended often around here as well. All depends on how much sound youre looking for.

I added a JL audio Tw3 12 inch sub, and changed the headunit out for the Alpine halo9. Night and day difference...the jbl speakers really woke up.

However they will all be ripped out next spring for all new components

Did the head unit affect your Bluetooth in any way?

The alpine has BT built in, so no. Did have to run an additional mic that's mounted in the top corner of the windshield. And the only other thing is the call/hangup buttons on the steering wheel no longer work. Although with android auto, they aren't really needed

********* is a plug n play solution to audio upgrades. Everything they design is Toyota specific.
They make basic and large packages for a little sound upgrade to major upgrade. Depending on tour budget. Check out their website *********.com Customer service is hit or miss, based on some peoples feedback, but ive always had a good experience.

I also recommend James at tech12volts. 95% of my sound system came from him. I have 2 JL amps, 4 JL door speakers, JL dash speakers, 2 JL subs, and a DSR1 processor. Be aware with the JBL entune systems you MUST run a processor to have a full range signal to send to the amps. The DSR1 with a plug n play harness allows complete removal of the factory amp. The factory amp adds a lot of noise that is difficult to get rid of completely. I had a JL fix86 that would get the signal from the outputs of the factory amp, I always has a very slight hiss during silence

I started with whatever the basic stock system was. Removed it and started from scratch.
I made custom speaker adapters out of acrylic, glassed custom tweeter pods, amp racks of 3 amps, sub enclosure, and ran a bunch of new wire.

    Totally worth it.
