Reviving an old thread but I’m assuming the guys with a high mileage 3rd gen are having no issues? Truck still tight like it was new?

Buddy at FCA gave me a hard time last night for getting a 2019 tundra vs ram. For the price and how well these things hold up, I felt more comfortable with the Tundra. I could have had a big Horn Classic for about $8k less, but after 3 years who knows what the ram would have been like...

2014 I bought CPO in Aug 2016 with 40k on the clock.

I’m at 92k mi now. Put 275/70r18 KO2s on at 45k. Rotated every 5k. (They’re still fine for on road and a little rain - maybe 9-10/16ths tread - they won’t be on the truck this winter though) New pads and rotors at 80k. Fluids and other services by dealer at the recommended intervals.

The only “issues” I’ve had is the damned door lock actuators. Or motors or I don’t know. But I’m not spending $7-800 for all 4 to be replaced. And I lack the “tech-spertise” to do it myself (and the time to learn how). And the turd plastic backup camera mounting bracket cracked. So I’ve repaired that myself. Can’t buy just the bracket- has to be the whole assembly with the camera which is also $800. Nope.
Truck runs like a Bradley though, which is why I bought it.

Given the proclivity of truck (even car) owners, when driving by themselves, to hit the FOB button and open ALL FOUR doors via the door actuators I'm just a bit surprised there's not more reported problems. I learned to drive in the 1970's. So when it is just me I open the drivers door with the key. Unlocking just that door and not letting the other three door actuators get in a just a bit more practice.

I dont know about the other models but my 19 limited crewmax only opens the driver door on the first button push. It was the same in my 07 Tacoma.

    Up to 131k now.
Only issues I’m having are the door lock actuators. I’ve had one replaced under extended warranty. The other one works some days and doesn’t other days.
Without the warranty they would’ve charged 400+ for one door.

I wonder if the door lock actuators is a Toyota-wide problem. My wife's 2013 Corolla has intermittent issues with the driver's door, though that could also be related to having been backed into in a parking lot.

Anyone know if the actuators are actually actuators or are they the little motors? All the actuators in my FJ failed, dealer wanted $100s. Found the motors on Amazon for $15 took about an hour.

I had the passenger door actuator go out, I bought the little motors and opened up the actuator. I followed a YouTube video, saved a ton of money.
