These we are not sure about on the Tundra, as we have not had one in to test on unfortunately. I wish I knew, we just have not had anyone install them into the rear that I am aware of. The kits we offer need the additional resistor wired in.

 

Have you guys seen the latest fad on Facebook tundra groups everyone is buying headlights made by alpharex. They have s nova series coming out looks pretty promising. I know y’all have tested so many things I wanted your opinion on these or have seen their build quality

 

Solid question my man! Alpharex is decent quality, the real kicker to me is the price tag for what you get. Really, Alpharex are imitators of the Morimoto XB headlight line-up, just a bit lower on price. Comparing these housings to options such as Anzo, Spyder, ProTuningLabs, etc., The Alpharex housings are much better in both Quality and Light output, as you would hope so with the price gap. But when comparing to the OEM Bi-LEDs and the Morimoto XB line-up, they fall short. The quality is noticeably lesser when looking at them in person, the Light output is fair, but the OEMs and XBs have it beat. Ultimately, if you are spending that kind of money on a set of headlights, I would fully suggest to either go OEM, or go even a bit more to the XB assemblies. We don't have a ton of experience with Alpharex, but from what I know and have seen from the Ram ones we had sent in for testing, you'll be happier without them. I hope this helps with some insight with your question!

Were these you compared to on the 3rd gen trucks? I have an 08 base model, so I don't have the DRL options or any of that. I either have off, parking, or headlights. I have restored mine a few times, but just looking at the other options available and saw the Alphrarex also.

 

In your situation, the AlphaRex would probably be the best way to go, unless you went with a Projector Retrofit. For a prebuilt housing for that Generation, they would be a good way to go! For the 3rd Gens though, they have the better off OEM Bi-LED and XB Options, this is why I did not recommend them for the 3rd Gens.

 

I appreciate the feedback. These are more on my budget than the others! Would they be better swapping an led bulb or keep the halogen?

 

@Headlight Revolution I know this thread is for LED's but I need some help with HID's. Can you take a look at this thread and point me in the right direction? I am looking around on your website and I see a lot of options for ballasts.

Hey man I have some xtune taillights. They have 24 LEDs at the top and six on the top left and six on the bottom right are not working. What should be my next step to fix this? The light is shown attached.

 

Put a nice 35w HID kit in there, or a respected LED bulb for a better performance. I personally Don't recommend going up to 55w, as the housing is aftermarket and I'm not quite sure if the housings will hold up to the 55w kit heat.

 

Hey man, I am more than happy to help out on this! on your post, I see that you need HID Ballasts. Without those two guys, the Kit won't fire up at all. Ballasts can be pretty darn pricey, I will admit. At just over $200 for 2 Ballasts, I almost recommend just upgrading to a new kit so you know that the bulbs are new and functional, and so you have a warranty under your belt. if you prefer to get replacement Ballasts, 35w is fairly cheaper than a 55w setup in most cases, but there will be a brightness difference to consider as well! (35w: 3-4 brighter than stock. 55w: 6-7x brighter than stock)

 

Hey man thanks for stopping by! If this is the case, check the connections for any possible corrosion or wear. Fill them with dialectric grease to ensure there is a proper connection as well. I'm not super familiar with their products so I can't recommend any specific troubleshooting per say, so it may be best to Email them directly and see what their thoughts are.

 

Thank you. Yeah I saw on your website a kit for ~$250 that had everything new included and the ballasts alone were expensive. Thanks for the info. Looks like I won’t be doing anything until I have the money for a new kit.

 

Hey Caleb, Thanks for offering your advise and expertise. I am running a 2015 Tundra and recently installed LED headlights and signal lights. Now I have the hyper flash on the turning signals and don't exactly understand where to wire in the resistors. Can this be done at a junction box or do I need to split the harness. If I need to split the harness, would you please explain which wires (by color) I need to solder the resisters into? And what style resister are you using? Is it just a simple in line resister? Any part numbers or diagrams would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should have a White/Black wire for Ground, and a Pink wire for Indicator wire. Install the Resistor in these 2 places and you're good to go! All you will need is a standard 50w 6Ohm Resistor for the job!

NOTE: Make sure to mount the resistors somewhere that is not heat sensitive, such as Sheetmetal. Resistors get quite toasty!

I recently purchased the OEM LED 2019 Tundra headlamps and installed them. They look great! I installed the Morimoto XB LED fog lights as well. Thanks for the videos BTW, it made it easy!

What are the exact bulbs that I need for the turn signals for the front headlamps? Can it be done without running additional wiring?

Also, what recommendations do you have for rear tail lamps replacements that are of good quality, not a budget breaker and easy to install, while providing some good looks? Thank you!

 

So I have a 2011 Toyota tundra. I would like to replace the stock fog lights and the front and rear housing as well as get led light for inside and outside any suggestions. Basically whole light package lol

 

My wife has a 2018 4Runner that has the DRL that is also the high beam. Is their a LED replacement that will work without flickering while in DRL use?

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I've got a white 2002 Tundra. I don't do much work on my truck, but looking to do some more. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it gets dark pretty early this time of year. Turns out that last weekend when we turned our clocks back that one of my headlamps died so I decided to finally put LED headlights on my 2002 Tundra. The product I bought off Amazon is linked below. I successfully installed these last night and after some troubleshooting realized that I needed to turn off my fog lights to get low and high beams on these. After a bit of research, I decided to buy a H4-RL650-M: H4 Connection Load Resistor to restore function to the fog lights and the high beam dash indicator.

My question is about the rubber dust covers. After installing and securing the LED light bulb collars, I put the dust covers back on and then inserted the LED lights through the opening. I had to push forcefully on the heatsink at the back of each bulb to insert it fully so that I could twist and lock it into place. My concern is that the aluminum heatsinks may heat up and damage the dust covers. What do you all recommend? Should I keep the dust covers on? Remove them? or Do I need to cut away a portion of the dust covers.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated. Also, if you have ideas about upgrading other lights on the a standard 2002 Tundra, I'd be interested in that as well.
