I was adding some led strip lights to illuminate my side steps then i was fiddling around some wire harnesses to check for a best possible area to splice my wires. I tried testing some wires with my dmm and i shorted something. Now my remote door lock/unlock doesnt work, i cant lock/unlock it from the door panel. Can someone help me please!!!!!!

Sounds like a fuse hopefully. Pop your covers off the fuse boxes and look for an accessory power with blown fuse and pop a new one in.

I Checked all the fuses. They all looked good. Unless there were hairline breaks that i couldn't see. Hope its not a relay.

Yes. I checked above driver kick panel and engine compartment. Are there any other places where there's fuses? I hope its not a relay.

Soooooo guys, it was a fuse that i missed 7.5a. So i replaced that. Everything's good now. As for my lights, how can i hook up that when i open each door, each designated light would light up at that side step?

Use a new relay and tie into the wire that leads to the cab light. You might be able to tie in right at the switch for the cab light.

    Relay and harness here: http://www.oznium.com/wire-12v-and-relays
Set it up so that when the cab light goes on then the relay is met. This will close the loop and turn on the door lights.

Not sure if you can do each door separate without adding a separate door switch pin: http://www.oznium.com/pin-switch

    Thanks.....
Since the door switches are the grounded type, i wired the (-) side of each of the strip lights so each one operated separately for each door.

Can you post up the light strips and relays etc that you purchased for this project? Would help me and others out if we choose to do this?

My apologies for necro-posting, but thanks for this! Saved my a$$ from buying a new remote module. I too was troubleshooting and let the sparks out at the junction fitting in the passenger footwell. A quick search found this and I checked all my fuses again... yep, 7.5A!

To be fair, it is nearly Halloween, despite the fact that Xmas is going on in Lowe’s right now, so necromancy is cool.
