Ethanol content and tune control via ethanol content is calculated using fuel trim feedback. AKA engine runs leaner, ECU sees this, calculates trim, calculates what the ethanol content "would be" from this. No actual real value of true ethanol.

As far as controlling tunes via cruise control buttons, possible. We are already doing this on the Tacoma.
Toyotas ethanol content blender code is too complex to modify safely right now. So instead we are creating a table that takes calculated ethanol content (from the ECU) and throw this into a table that will increase ignition as a result.

So imagine :
X = ethanol %
Y = RPM
Z= Load
Table data = Ignition increase

(4D table)

This is already being worked on (not even "alpha" so no eta whatsoever). but coding this is slow.

I thought that the nannies were disabled in 4lo (assuming you were running that obstacle in low range) ...or might that vary from 2nd to 3rd Gen ( I also thought that I read some time ago there was a subtle change to how they were disabled)?

 

He tried it in all the possible nanny settings - appears to be independent of nanny settings and is always "on" in 4x4 in 1st and 2nd gear.

 

I had all nannies off. In 4lo, there are only two modes. I even tried it in 4lo D, 4lo 1st, and rear locked/unlocked (arb locker) Acted the same no matter what

 

Huh, must there to keep the knuckle-heads from (hypothetically) destroying CVs and front diffs with too much skinny pedal.

 

yeah I can see that. If you dont know what you're doing with the gas you can tear up a lot of shit or even overheat the trans. Toyota probably think its a "safety" feature, but I hate nannies

Subbing and following here as I've been reading this thread for a couple of weeks now and just recently (finally!) purchased another Tundra. I may be one of the odd ones out here, and while I can appreciate the power gains (which are impressive, particularly the smooth delivery) - what are the expectations for MPG improvements? Full disclosure: my truck is basically a commuter. No off-roading, no mudding, 99.9% paved roads and highway (the 0.1% is the short entry to our cottage). I don't tow...well, anything really. The gains in the Tacoma were/are impressive...curious if anyone running a stock truck w/87 has any results yet? The only mods on the truck (done by the previous owner) are a K&N CAI (nice and growly...though I'm pretty sure it does nothing) and a remote start (probably dings me slightly in MPG!). Thus far, in <2 weeks of ownership, I've been getting 19-20mpg on road trips (pretty happy with that) and 16-18 day to day commuting through town to work (not a lot of stop and go, ~45ish most of the way). Looking forward to results either way, this is definitely on my list of things to consider!

ETA: I had my previous '07 w/4.7L back just before gas prices spiked to ~$5/gallon and at the time was getting 12-14mpg on average. I've owned several hybrids in the meantime, and bought the truck knowing full well what I was getting into...so I don't expect 30mpg, but even incremental improvements would be nice! Also...new truck is an '11 Rock Warrior with the 5.7L.

 

I'm getting about the same, but I'm only a couple of hundred miles in. I don't drive my truck as a commuter, it's personal use only and doesn't see a ton of miles.

 

That N/A torque curve looks amazingly similar to S/C... Can't wait to see an OV Tuned supercharger Dyno!

 

Well updating the Windows 10 OS and tried the data logger and it crashed again. It was already not working and crashing the data logger so figured it was worth a try to see if updating would fix it since I heard another in here had that work for them.

Back to waiting for the new logger. This sucks, freaking Bill Gates

Those are my S/C numbers with BD, 95 octane tune and urd underdrive pulley. I was running a bit lean.

I guess I'll Dyno after ovtune for my comparison

That was me. Sorry for the false alarm for you. It did work for me. Maybe uninstall reinstall, run in compatibility mode?

 

Had the same issue after running updates on win10 laptop. Have you tried a run-as admin on the logger app?

 

My truck has pretty low compression ratio (8.5:1), so 14 PSI on it feels like 10 PSI would on the stock 10.2:1, but it is still good for a low 12 second 1/4 mile

 

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, disabled Windows Security and run as Administrator --- No luck and stuck

 

How far out are you from OV flash?

I'm on the fence for my SC myself.. Waiting on some numbers!

 

No idea, just waiting for the registry key email, then I dump my ecu, send to them and get another email with their flash, not sure how long that will take.

I PMd with another member who has the SC and had BD tune but went OV a few months ago and raved it. And based on the time OV tune is investing into this product, it will only get better with each iteration.

I'm on the BD SC tune currently and have been been and forth between waiting for OV Dyno and AFR sheets and a BD... Although I'm not traveling across the country and honestly OV is sounding super legit.. Just need actual data!

new logger is actively in development, and going well. Much much better than our older logger. Will be published as a downloadable and by flash manager.
Likely we will have all of our updates ready to send out when the new logger app is ready to go

 

I'm happy to do that with a R and D "use our stuff/test out stuff/report back"... But I'm not ...eh... "Financially equipped" to be paying for someone's R&D on my daily driver.

I've actually got a lot of questions for Matt about the tune and methanol injection, IATs programming, etc... But it seems like OV is a little too busy right now.

I'm in no rush.

Gonna get my wideband on and do some testing with my current BD tune and Methanol.

If they come back with nice Dyno and AFR numbers I'll be here waiting.

I don't think so. There was a small window where he stopped taking orders until his tune for the tundra was released, but it was only a week or so. I just checked his website and it looks like you can order for 2018s.

 

Yea we stopped taking orders because we are out of stock, and wanted to publish a big update... I believe I posted about it in this very thread. Dustin obviously has not a clue on how we operate because we do this on every platform. Whenever we have a big update about to post we temporarily go out of stock so that we may first create and publish this update. This isn't specific to the Tundra at all.

We have been able to flash 2018s since the day we started this platform, in person, remotely, via our flash kit. Unlike the other who is waiting on a 3rd party company (probably dimsport..) to make it available for them.

Anyways.. back to bringing awesome stuff for this platform.

Once I finish up these betas for the Tacoma I should be able to show you guys the battery gauge patch that makes it a AFR gauge

I'd wager we'll be first into the 2019s before long, while other companies wait on other companies...

by the way, we want everyone to know we are expanding to a larger shop before the year ends so winter might be a bit busy during the transition.
