Can't wait to use my cell module when hunting. Coming back to a nice warm truck after hours in the woods is going to be amazing.

Have you tried locking the door, then pressing 3 times? I had mine apart yesterday because I needed to program it again. When I got it all back together I pressed it 3 times and nothing. Then it dawned on me to lock it first. Hope it helps.

Thanks, Kyle. I did try that, but I'm not sure it's necessary....I believe you only have to press lock three times. James is sending me a replacement module.

I don't think you can disable the truck that way, but I can give it a try and see what happens.

Just got mine installed today. I had one issue that scared me a bit so I’ll share to hopefully avoid someone else having the same sinking feeling I did...
I ran the wires and made all the connections to the truck. I had to splice the key sense wire having the glass break sensor (thanks GiantsFanDan) and that was a pain because you have practically no wire to spare off the factory harness.
I was then able to easily program the unit and tested it out. Truck fired right up. Great, so far so good.
I then inserted the key and turned it to on. Truck systems (dash, radio) come to life as they should. I then turn the key back to off thinking mission accomplished... truck keeps running. Take the key out of the ignition... truck keeps running. Put the key back in flip it on and off again... still running. The only way I can get the truck to turn off is to hit lock button again 3 times.
I figure I’ve done something to screw this up and how the hell do I fix it. It’s 2am in Georgia so I’m not going to call James.
I then decide to check if taking the truck out of park makes any difference. Bingo. Truck shuts off when the key goes to off as it should.
Despite the scare, this is a great product at an amazing price. Thanks James!

2010 - installation complete - tested and buttoned back up...less than 2 hours....and that was with cleaning the corrosion around the battery terminals (yuck)...

    seems to be working fine!

    thanks for a great product!

one recommendation...better video! lol....especially the part about having to remove the OBD II...was easier to "remove" the airbag and pull it off the back side...EZ access. I saw another video somewhere..what showed this.

    THANKS!!!

You may have tried this, but I believe you turn the key to on and then press the brake. You shouldn’t have to put it into gear.

    A LOT... NEVER ENDS
Installed today. Took my time. Took an hour. Had to call Randy but he hooked me up and cleared up my confusion. Had one silly moment (scared I messed something up). After installing it, programmed it, I closed the doors, and it did nothing. Issue was my hood was up..... hahaha

Mine was a tight fit (had to push it in really good for it to lock into place). Make sure it's pushed in far enough to lock the tab on it, that should ensure it's going to stay in place and not come back out.

There is also a car setting in the stereo that will automatically lock the doors after so many seconds. Make sure that is off.

You could try running a zip tie through the harness and around the module maybe?

I did have to give it a good push to fully click in, and I think there's a premature click that makes you think it's fully secure.

You are correct. I just confirmed the truck will shut off with the key as long as you touch the brake while the key is on.

    Hey guys,

I installed my remote start about 2 weeks ago and am having some weird issues with my truck this week. I'm trying to diagnose whether it could be because of the remote start or if it is something else before I uninstall the remote start.

Here is what is happening. Installed the remote start 2 weeks ago. No issues before the install and none for about a week. Then a few days ago some weird things started happening.

Day 1 - Driver side DRL goes out. Turn signal starts hyperflashing. No big deal. Go to Autozone and get a new bulb and replace it. Old bulb doesn't look bad but put new bulb in. Works again.
Day 2 - DRL goes out again. Hyperflash on signal. Don't replace the bulb yet. huh???
Day 3- DRL miraculously works again in the morning. Stops working in the afternoon. WTF??
Day 4 - Works again. But the truck has a little trouble turning over in the morning.
    Day 5 - DRL out again. ???
Today - Truck starts no problem. Drive to grocery store. Truck is completely dead when trying to leave. Didn't even try to crank. Jump start (from a friendly fellow Tundra owner) and start drive home. Stopped at a light. Go to turn on left turn signal. As soon as I push the lever down the truck dies. Doesn't sputter or slowly shut off but like instantly dies. Push it to the side of the road. Get my wife to come meet me. Jump the truck again. Make it the 2 blocks back home. After parking, truck won't start again. Put a battery charger on. As the battery gets some juice the car starts acting funny. It sounds like it is repeatedly trying to unlock the doors. I put the key in and turn it to On, try to crank it, turn it off. Still won't stop trying to unlock doors. Finally, try to crank again and turn key to off and door issue stops.

The battery is about 1 year old. Could be bad but not too likely. Maybe alternator issue?

Anyway, just trying to figure out if this may be due to something with the remote start since the issues didn't start until after I installed the remote start a couple weeks ago and haven't done anything else to the truck since. I don't want to uninstall the remote start because I like the feature. But if it is causing this issue I will pull it out.

    Any thoughts?

it's pretty easy to unplug. just plug back oem wires and leave module there. see if all issues go away. that should take you 30 min top.

That's a good point. Is there anything that needs to be done to reprogram anything? Or does just unplugging the module and plugging the OEM wires back in essentially reset everything?

There was another thread recently where the DRLs stopped working after a similar install. He ended up pushing the BCM plug on the left side of the dash in slightly more, fully seating it, and the issue was resolved. Give that a shot. That plug is very touchy.

My bet is you have a bad battery and it’s not related to the remote start.

So are you guys able to install on a 18+ truck with no issues? I see some had to do a lot of extra work other than the "cut one wire.' Others able to install as easily as they initially thought? Hate to do it and it not work or have to be re-programmed or something. Thanks!

If you have the factory alarm, it sounds like you will have an additional wire or two to mess with. If you're just a standard 2018/2019, it's just the one TPMS splice to mess with.
