VF Tuner 3UR Support - Development Tools

I'm not seeing anything for 0CG11 in my Inbox, Junk, nor Spam. I checked yesterday and didn't find any recalls/TSBs for my VIN. I don't know if there was an update from 0CG11 to something else. No one has offered such. If I'm supposed to be on something different I'd be interested in knowing what it should be and where to dig it up.

 

Hmmm let me double check to make sure nobody else was missed.

OCL42 file is done, working on that email

Making sure I got my steps right for flashing so I dont muck it up:

-Turn truck to On (not start)
-Power off all accessory stuff (lights, radio)
-Run p5flash app
-Click Flash It
-Select tune file from OV
-Wait for flash to complete
-Start truck

Do we need to perform Reset LV and Reset AT?

No need to reset LV or AT,

all steps correct except added:
- Wait for flash to complete
- very flash is successful (software tells you)
- shut truck off, then start. Truck will start 1x then die (normal)
- start truck again
- flash complete

 

I don't know if I should be anticipating anything or not....

Found. looks like we got that yesterday afternoon so it didn't make it to the tundra folder yet. Working on it now

 

Ya, I emailed yesterday to see if you were looking for testers of my particular ECU ID. I guess that when I sent in my ID information back in June to get the .reg file, I assumed that there'd be a file made for it. My mistake there!

 

Tried doing datalogging earlier. I launched the ODBDataextractor app and had the unit plugged into the ODB2 port, hit connect on the app and briefly saw data, but the window suddenly closed. Is that normal? Wasnt sure if was logging or not so I drove around for a bit.

I could not find any csv files created that showed it was logging.

*Update: just checked the event log on the laptop and ODBDataextractor app crashed shortly after pressing connect and briefly seeing data on the screen.

 

First try a different USB port for the cable, second , right click "run as admin" let me know if that works.

Feedback: Tune is installed. No hiccups at all. I'm a happy camper. Gear lock is a blessing!! I have almost 800 lbs in bed and at 6th gear it accelerated from 70 to 90 really well I would say and in a short time considering the weight of the load. All other gears worked really well. Power and torque are evenly distributed throughout the mechanical range of the pedal. No more "super touchy". Shift feel is smooth like stock not firm. Shift times feels stock also-meaning when I upshift from 4th gear to 5th it's not like manual or modified valve body.

I have 91 tune. Using Tow-Haul + S mode. 91 Shell, stock single exhaust, AFE drop in filter, stock size AT P rated tires, 4x4, non flex fuel, 2010 Crewmax, Kings on all fours, sway bar delete.

I cycled thru 4x4 modes:4Hi, 4Lo, Tow Haul On and Off, forward, reverse--no hiccups.

I'll wait for a week, then data-log. Not sure if ECU is still learning or what but we'll see. DAP is out; OV is in.

No need to wait. I do data log pretty much immediately after installing the tune. Like, installed my newest revised tune this morning.. logged the data, and have already sent it to him. I have done 5 or 6 tunes this way.

 

Combo of using a diff usb port and running as admin works. Thanks OV!

2nd day since installation of OV Tune. Truck feels completely different today compared to yesterday. Throttle is more responsive and firm. Yesterday it felt soft and response was not immediate or crisp. Trans shifts also feel firmer. D mode is a beast in itself compared to dap tune. Even with the ac on, performance doesn’t seem to affected. Downshifts or engine braking is also more felt than before. This is with almost 800 lb load on the bed. Definitely more fun to drive this truck today than yesterday when I installed the tune. Have not data logged yet.

 

I was wondering if I was going to feel a difference. I figured the answer would be yes, but good to hear from someone else!

 

What do you carry around that weighs 800 pounds!? 6 years of driving around with the stock tune, dap, BD, and hypertech. Finally, after all this time, hope that my dang truck will run like it should have straight from the dealership!

@OVTune Mat, when Toyota finally hires you to program these trucks, don't forget about us little guys

 

Lol. Feels like this truck has more low rpm torque available with heavy loads. Shifts better and in some instances gets better mpg than the empty truck.

RPM stays low, transmission feels solid (maybe torque converter locks up sooner). I did this initially with my old 2007 RCSB 4x2, and now with the 2010 Crewmax 4x4. My first tune experience was DAP. Huge improvement over stock. And now with OV, huge improvement over DAP.

One of these days, I will remove some of the weights and see how the truck drives. Just don't feel like unloading the Quickrete gravel bags. Some of them have holes already. lol This has just became my way of testing drivability, torque. Folks that use their trucks for towing, heavy loads will love this tune. As for MPG--too early to comment. Still enjoying a bit hard than normal acceleration from time to time. I haven't done any WOT or red lines.

By the way, OV Tune D Mode feels like DAP tune in Tow/Haul Mode and some.
