Highest mileage 1st Gen. Thread?

256k miles, 4.7, timing belt changed at 223, replaced ball joints and power steering rack same time. Leaks out of rear main pretty bad but runs perfect and is quite fast for her age!

You mind posting up a pic over in the ‘What have You Done’ 1st gen section of your rear main leak?

 

Just bought my 2006 DC @ 176k. Hope to get many more out of it! I drive my ~6k/yr, hoping to have it for at least 4 yrs, while I save for a newer 3rd gen. Good things about these trucks at least where I'm at is that there really isn't much more depreciation that is going to happen on them. What I can sell it for at 200k in a couple years should be pretty close to what I bought it for save some of the work I had to do on it below.

I did have to do a couple things to do, some maintenance/pm work, and some for enjoyment.

Maintenance:

• Oil change.
• Rear diff service.
• Transmission fluid.
• Replace windshield.
• Replace clutch fan.

Enjoyment:

• Diode dynamics flasher relay and full LEDs all around interior/exterior.
• CarPlay stereo upgrade (Kenwood) + USB input on center console.
• Scangauge II.

On the fence:

• Replace drop in Bedliner with a spray-in one.
• Darker tint all around to reduce heat in cab.
• Replace driver side mirror with one that doesn't vibrate as much.

The tint and bedliner are a fair investment, but also do provide enjoyment. I'm in an area where rust isn't an issue, and this truck is local, no rust on bed or frame. I just like the utility and the look of the spray-in bedliner. I also need a solution to haul bikes. I don't want to drop 1k on a rack system. Might just go with a tailgate pad and be done with it.

Things that the previous owner did that I don't have to:

• New-ish tires.
• Timing belt and WP at 165k.
• Weathertech mats all around.
• HID headlights and fogs.
• LED 3rd brake light.

Hot damn that’s impressive plus I bet he still gets at least $2,000 for it haha id like to know what he has done and if the transmission is original that’s crazy!

 

Not sure if you’ve watched that Nathan garage guy on youtubes, but he has a 1st Gen 4.7 Sequoia with IIRC over 400k on the OD.

He says he mostly uses it for tow/haul and it has the original transmission.

With history behind us, I think the A340F planet gears either failed quickly early on (rare) or they’ve gone on forever.

 

Hopefully lol but man I see a lot of high mileage early 1st gens with original equipment.

 

I have a 2000 Tundra SR5 4x4 with 346,923 miles. I’m slowly fixing her up from her previous neglectful owner

 

My uncle gave my son a 2000 Tundra for his 16th b-day that has just under 500k miles. Just replaced the tires and it looks and runs great.

Damn that’s cool seeing the odometer with so many clicks, truck looks to be in great shape.

 

There's a few small things cosmetically wrong with it, but overall in good shape. Had my mechanic do a full check on it and couldn't find anything wrong with it at all. Put new tires on it (for a slightly more aggressive look), new stereo with hands free kit. The dent in the left bedside is from a wild hog that ran through the woods and jumped into it. That's kinda unique and not sure I'll pay to fix it with the amount of miles and a newly licensed driver.

And, I couldn't find the post on the keys for some Tundras sticking when trying to start the truck...but, we got a VIN coded key cut and the keys work amazing in the doors and ignition.

I have the runt of the litter.. I am the original owner of a 2004 4x2 V6 Stick and about to cross 200K (199800) all stock stuff...

I rhino lined the bed when I bought it and "betsy" has mostly highway driving miles... and maintenance above from regular fluid changes, filters, tires & bulbs include:

Timing chain @112K
Sticking ignition @140K - new key fixed it
New front windshield @160K - also replaced any nearby rusty screws and aged plastic while it was apart
AC leaks/broke down @196K- Replaced whole system myself as an educational exercise (been working flawlessly for 2 yrs now) (this also justified some tool purchases (grins))
Only thing thats nonop is CD part of original radio.. still works but flakes out after a bit.

ORIGINAL CLUTCH (which surprises me)...
Probably could use timing chain soon, steering pump pulses when starting transitioning from reverse to first gear, some steering noises
- if I decide to put her back into full time service will address those issues...

Still have it and bought a 2017 (about the time the 04' a/c broke down)
When i had a dealer look at it circa 2017 they told me it was the cleanest engine they had seen with those miles on it (probably the highway miles).

She is up for sale but not going to give her away so she may stick around for a while

 

I just bought an 02 access cab with 310 and some change. Just had timing and water pump changed. Paid $3k. Only problem was the 4WD ECU was out. Picked it up at a junkyard and it works great. Just needs a paint job

 

My 2000 tundra is about to tick over to 180k miles and it been in my family since 02. its been mine since 17. Dad bought it with 18k miles on it. That's me in the pictures in like like 03 or 04.

No, but we have a 1955 Wilis with 50k on the clock and god knows what on the engine lol

 

05 regular cab/WT model with 96k. 4.7L 4x4

 

04 DC with 257K

 

2001 access cab. 2wd. Purchase with 26k, changed the spark plugs at 300k ( hey. I really had to. I ought to post a picture of the old ones)
Speedo went out at 378k, changed the timing belt for the first time at around 500k. Based on typical usage and by now I know what that is....close to 600k.
