I’m not sure about how some people use CC, but for me it isn’t like sitting at home watching TV.

I still hover the skinny pedal like if CC is off. In the event you have a tire blowout on the service vehicle, this can be the difference between just changing out a tire or being in the ditch all wadded up.

So color me curious, your first choice was a ram but you thought what? For shits and giggles I’ll go with my second choice to mix it up?

@hagrid -- you have a ballpark on weight on that load/trailer (guessing electric brakes also..)? Just looking to get idea of what others find works for them. Find myself using 7.5 gain also with my TT with factory BC works well also.

Sorry to interject... everyone else, carry on with the RAM loving :curls:

How heavy is your RV? Sounds like you may not have your WDH set up properly. Take a measurement from the ground to the top of your bumper, before hooking up the rv. Then hook it up and measure again. If that number gets any bigger than an inch, you are not set up properly. Raising the front of the truck does strange things to the TSS syste . It also makes the truck very unstable and hard to drive. If you are driving around with your front lifted and cruise control on while towing, you are lucky you haven't been in an accident yet. If you get your set up right all your issues should correct themselves, and you will be amazed at how well these trucks can tow

Exactly right Sir. Although I use CC quite often, when it gets "hilly", I'll grab a gear that I know is best to keep the Torque Converter locked and avoid constant shifting. Just because our Tundras have automatic transmissions, doesn't mean we have to drive them like we drove our '83 Reliants:D

I probably should of stated in my original post that if I hit a steep hill, the cc will indeed cancel out. But it don’t matter, dude is gonna buy a Ram.. lol

Is it ok to post ? Or do I need to get authorization from the chain of command ! Lmfao

I’ve never tried cruise control while towing I feel like I pay more attention when I don’t use cruise control. Sorry your upset get used to it because you’ll have it for a few hundred thousand miles with little maintenance :bananadead:

On my 2010,the CC Control Stalk is right at my right hand finger tips, a simple pull-back and CC is off. Just as, if not faster than tapping the brake pedal, of course this doesn't mean much when we're 'posing', with our wrist/forearm so causally draped over the steering wheel... being so cool and all. I'm told fingernail polish takes some time to dry and we wouldn't want to mar those beauties by holding the steering wheel
Yep, I can see your point but I don't use my truck in 'D', so shifting for myself most of the time, keeps me in touch and involved:thumbsup:

I don't really care what any manufacturer says. I'll never use cruise control while towing ever again.

I almost had a trailer jack-knife on me just after cresting a hill the first and only time I used cruise control while towing. I was only going about 40 mph. It was a pure miracle that I was able to get it all back under control without rolling the truck.

You don't go through that and then take a chance on it happening again.

Not trying to sound snarky, but do you think that may have had more to do with the tongue weight and the weight in the trailer improperly distributed. I don’t disagree with you about being hesitant to use cruise control but something doesn’t sound right if your truck tried to jackknife just from cresting the hill.

Weight distribution on the trailer probably was a factor that made it more prone to instability. It was a tandem axle flatbed trailer full of fire wood. Someone else loaded it and I wasn't towing it very far for them so I didn't inspect it as closely as I should have.

I was also young and didn't want to insult someone I respected by scrutinizing their loading job too closely. I've since realized that I would have been personally more respectable if I had inspected it and reloaded it properly.

But I don't know exactly how it was loaded because a lot of the wood fell off the trailer when it started swaying really badly. That's why I was able to get it back under control without rolling the truck.

The cruise control continued to hold the throttle as I crested the hill (as CC is prone to do even while not towing). Then after it overshot the speed setting it cut the throttle abruptly and the sway started immediately.

As you suggested, other factors likely contributed, but the unsteady throttle behavior from the cruise control is what kicked off the trailer sway. So "no CC while towing" is one of a few things I decided that day.

Hey man we all learn somewhere. I’m sure on your short drive you weren’t thinking it was going to go down the way it did! I could see that happening to me as well.

If this is what it actually says in the owners manual, if so, it does not say it will not work (as many have pointed out it will work)
It simply states not to. Why? Something those nasty wormy lawyers said to put in the manual so Toyota doesn't loose a court battle. It's as simple as that.
As for the OP worried about CC and toeing, why not worry about driving stress while not in toe and CC on???? Hell, even while not in toe on a trip, I hardly use CC and I'm 62 YO.

The trailer weighs 1200lbs and the Q-bota weighs 1800lbs. Trailer has 'lectric brakes on both axles.

Not a true statement. This is standard for all manufacturers. Towing a trailer adds too many variables that makes it unsafe for you to use CC. You can still use it if you want to, Toyota just warns against it.

I think what his problem is, is that his trucks cruise control won’t work for him at all when towing. He thinks it’s because he’s towing and Toyota won’t let him do it. I think the dealer told him that as well. It sounds like this is not the case. The truck should be able to engage cruise control when towing even though Toyota advises against it. Something is wrong with his TSS system. Probably because the weight in the back of the truck is changing the angle of the sensor.

I hear you, but the way the TSS works, is that you can hold the button for a few seconds and it turns on the regular CC instead of Dynamic CC. I would never tow using Dynamic CC. Probably not using regular CC either, but at least it would work if you turn it on.
I can only make an assumption on the Dynamic CC not working - and that is that the trailer puts too much tongue weight on the truck and then the sensor is not aimed right. Again, I would rather have the system shut it down than to let me use it and cause an unsafe situation. I doubt that there is anything wrong with the system - it is just being used outside the safe parameters. Just my guess though since I don't have all the details. Based on OP's remarks about no other trucks prohibiting the use of CC, while it is in fact in every other manufacturer's manual, I suspect some ignorance and therefor user error rather than system error. I say that respectfully though - just saying that's what I see.
