Guys, this is simple stuff! Listen up!
Take the MSRP and ask for 11.2% off, then subtract the rebate in your area and you have your price.
Then, add tax and doc fee and you have your out the door price.

    For example;

    MSRP
    49,547
Discount of $5,549 after 11.2% off
    Rebate of $3,000
Equals= $40,998 plus tax and doc.

If they will not do 11.2% off go to the next dealer and so on and you will likely hit after a few tries.

How did you come to 11.2% as the amount to ask for?

I am sure the O.P. forgot to tell us that included a trade for about $6,000.

I have purchased 18 new Tundras since 2007 when the new body style changed for myself and business. I always try for 12-13% off and have dealt with six different dealers and we usually get to 11.2% off. There is a threshold in there where walking away will not garner a deal which is in my experience 11.3%.
If you get to 11% you are golden.

    1. I used True Car ONLY AS A GUIDE to get a starting number, then worked down from their “good deal” number.

    2. I never pay attention to MSRP, I prefer invoice pricing and work around that number.

    3. Don’t forget the holdbacks and rebates the DEALER receives for selling a car. It really is good to wait to BUY at the end of the month. Doc fees/admin fees, dealer prep fees, that’s all extra profit for the dealer. I tell them to make that profit on the other guy, not me.

    4. Start your haggling early, email a shitload of dealers within 500-1000 miles. Close the deal at the end of the month.

    5. Have your “walk away” number in your head, figure out your budget ahead of time. If they don’t make your number, walk away. Get a prequal email/letter. I financed via Navy Federal and was qualified in under 10 minutes, all over the phone, and they sent me a check to give to the dealer. It was that easy, almost a little scary.

    6. Watch for all the add-ons, negotiate on those (throw them in or take them off) after you’ve worked on pricing the truck.

    7. Watch out for the pricing you’ll see advertised on Auto Trader and similar sites. Look for the asterisk, typically that’s the price if you qualify for every single rebate available.

Can someone tell my what makes the same described truck's MSRP be higher/lower than another? I haven't seen anything in the description that sticks out to me. $40,620, even if it's not an out-the-door price (which I presume it isn't) is a fantastic price. But with the lower MSRP than others I see, I don't know what to look for myself to find a deal like that.

Did you trade and/or put cash down on it and was that including the taxes? This is exactly what I'm looking for but I wasn't expecting any better than maybe 42.5k before taxes.

Damn. You're a prophet. My ask of them included 12% (not stated that way) plus the 3k. If they counter, I'm gonna do the math and see if it's 11.2%.

    Hello all,

Just started the process of purchasing my first full size.

I've sent a few single inquiries via email today in the VT, NH, ME area. My first quotes have been: low of 5.7% off MSRP, 9.8%, 10.7% and a high of 13% off MSRP before 3k cash back. I'm targeting trucks in the $43k to $47k range of SR5s with a minimum of the SR5 upgrade package. I'll update as things progress. I hope to have a paid value by end of Aug.

Without negotiating I was offered $9000 off msrp on any Tundra except TRD Pro. I have decided to wait until Apple car play and push button start are available. I love the convenience of both. Curious to see what the engine options and any improved fuel efficiencies for the 2021 model. I love the 5.7–just not the mpg’s. Waiting to hear from the winter Chicago Car Show next February.

Until then I’ll get the frame repaired on my 2000 Tundra and drive it untilI buy a new Tundra.

I've found my truck. It's a 2019 CrewMax TRD Off Road. It's used with 3,000 miles for $38,000. I need them to come down a little bit more on the price. I've done a bunch of research and know everything I need to know, but I'm having trouble getting anything off the sticker for any dealer I talk to. I got a dealer to go down to $37,000 for a new TRD double cab, but I really want that CrewMax. Any good negotiators on this forum have any suggestions? Teach me your ways! Hahaha.

Wow. You got them to take money off the price of the truck and give you the 0% financing? That would NEVER happen in my area. It is either one or the other.

I got my 2019 Platinum Crew max 4x4 back at the end of April for 46000. Taxes, title, etc delivered to my door for just over 48000. Also purchased from a dealer with Toyota's lifetime power train warranty (not sure how great it is but defiantly a plus)
